@newell138 -that is a beautiful stadium so close to the Ocean. I saw they spent a nice sum of money installing artificial turf. Has there ever been pressure to move that stadium further West and take the $$$ and build on that prime land?

Wouldn’t surprise me since it is New Jersey. Hopefully Ocean City won’t let that happen. A great field next to the ocean.

There was talk that Jersey City was going to sell its high school field at Caven Point to developers to expand their Million Dollar Port Liberte complex. Fortunately for the kids, that has died down, especially after getting a donation from the NFL to replace the turf field, which they’re doing now.

Yeah, I'm not suggesting that SHOULD happen, just surprised it has NOT happened. Ocean front property is highly desired by developers. The Wikipedia pages says that Carey Stadium is located a little more than 200 meters from the Atlantic Ocean and is home to a minor league soccer team. Only one minor league sports team in the country plays closer to an ocean than the Nor'easters do. (Minor league baseball team Pensacola Blue Wahoos play at Admiral Fetterman Field in Pensacola, Florida).

That's pretty cool.

Totally agree with you. Hopefully it won’t happen.

Maybe not Brooklyn’s stadium is that close to the ocean but isn’t Staten Island’s stadium is literally next to the NY Harbor? Great views at both.

Staten Island is not along the Ocean but does have a gorgeous view of the harbor and NYC.

that will never happen. The HS is right next to it so they would also need to move the HS as well as the giant parking lot that the town generates $$$ from all summer. The big issue now is the amusement park thats currently shuttered next door to the field and HS. Icona wants to build a hotel and promised to keep the giant ferris wheel as part of the deal but its caused a lot of whining in town.

Is the Ferris wheel historic?

In Asbury Park, they promised to take care of Tillie, the iconic clown face on Palace Amusements, but Tillie has not been seen for years. Developers can be real scumbags and not live up to their promises. Don't let them take the Ferris wheel down!

Not sure I have ever stopped in Ocean City, which is bad for me. . . Think I have hit all of the other beach towns with Boardwalks.
Its funny, i never heard of it growing up, never went past LBI. Friends of ours told us about it when we were complaining about how expensive LBI was getting so we rented for a week one summer and the following summer made the move. I dont think at this point there is any shore town in NJ that I have not been to. OC definitely has the nicest boardwalk in NJ

Dinner it is! My wife likes to eat at 3:30 lol. Strathmere is a sleepy little town thats about 2 blocks wide from bay to beach. Has a great spot called The Deauville Inn and another down the street called Twisties but I heard Twisties may not reopen this summer, both of them have been around for like 100 years.

Twisties? Any relation to Hooters? Sounds like a fun place.
