Some interesting notes about state championship games with Reidsville slant:
- Walkertown (3A) joins Reidsville (4A) as representatives from the Mid-State 3A/4A/5A Conference.
- Walkertown is 20-8 with three of the losses coming to Reidsville - 72-66 in January, 66-64 in early February and 80-77 in conference tournament.
- Walkertown and Reidsville both play Friday - Walkertown-Kinston at 5:00 and Reidsville-Salisbury at 7:30
- Northern Guilford's girls (26-4) have one of the top freshmen in the state, 6-foot Aliyah Settle. She played at Reidsville Middle School prior to moving over to Northern Guilford. She's averaging 16.1 points per game. Northern plays Fayetteville Terry Sanford for 6A Championship Thursday.
Not that it is exactly like this but is anyone old enough to remember the 1976-77, 4A final four that featured Reidsville, Hillside, Gastonia Ashbrook and Huss? Huss had a kid named Floyd. Ashbrook had a kid named Worthy. They had met multiple times during the regular season with Huss winning each time. In the semis, Ashbrook defeated Reidsville and Huss topped Hillside. This set up a rematch in the state championship. This time Ashbrook prevailed.

I only connect this history to the idea that maybe losing to Reidsville 3 times will bode well for Walkertown. To play the Rams as close as they did all three times means they are pretty good.

Whether legal or not, questions abound. How does one school, in particular Reidsville, pick up two athletes the likes of Broadway and Cauthen in the middle of the school year, from towns in opposite directions and both over an hour away? Both young men happen to be football/basketball players? It's not logical or even remotely possible if left to chance. It seems one would have better odds of winning the lottery. Is someone turning a blind eye to things? We know there are plenty of smart people that know how to manipulate "the system." It happens everywhere these days but it does seem to happen more frequently for the Rams than for other schools.

Just an observation.

One guy's family transfered "to get closer to work" but Dad still works in the county they left.

1. Reidsville is a blue blood
2. Transfers are happening all over the state. Reagan just got Statesville Qb( Statesville is falling apart) West Stokes even just got 3 transfers.
3. It seems you guys have a problem if a smaller school gets a transfer, but could care less if bigger schools do. Hough has like 20 transfers.
What's any of your reasons got to do with anything? Blue blood? There are no blue bloods between Durham or Statesville and Reidsville? How about Grimsley? I basically said transfers happen all over these days. Not good IMO, but a fact. The size of the school has nothing to do with anything. That's a stupid statement.

It's not so much that schools these days get transfers. It's when they get them and under what circumstances they get them that raises eyebrows.

Grimsley is very good, but they are also only a football school. Of course Paul would've made them a lot better. The size of school thing is because its not a a big of a deal when kids transfer to a larger school. Didn't mean to insinuate that's what you meant, so my bad on that.

They proved everything was legit with the move though.

Im sure it was. But moving an hour away isnt moving closer to your job lol.

Now this ain't the case in the situation above, but do you know the process school systems use to "prove residency"? Some ADs literally drive by a house, without knocking or verifying anyone is actually there, and if it looks like someone lives there, box gets checked. The craziest Ive seen is a vacant lot used as a home address.

Lol, yeah I know for Reidsville the Ad does do a home visit. But central office does their own investigations, not sure if that'll continue going forward or not.

Reidsville's high scorer from 8th grade boys team last year transferred out ... so it works both ways.

RCS Central Office for the most part lets ADs handle things like that. New superintendent is a good one from what I know.

Dude, literally 40 plus kids have transferred in NC high school sports in the last 30 days including Reidsville own QB to east Forsyth which was clearly an athletic move..but you want to insinuate wrong doing, just a ridiculous clown post by someone that is mad that Reidville is winning, go talk about west charlotte, hough, Grimsley, west stokes, east Forsyth, etc…

Also the top girls player, who is leading Northern Guilford to a state championship run. If the Rams had her as a freshman the rams could've been a championship threat.

Well they do, but the rams get checked by all ad's plus central office investigation. It was more than thorough

I was there (4A semifinals) ... Reidsville had a key starter out due to injury (Greg Hopkins) in the game with Ashbrook, which the Green Wave won 59-52. James Worthy was a 6-8 sophomore who helped Ashbrook move to 26-0 on the season. He posted 18 points and 12 rebounds. Reidsville ended the season 25-4 after losing to Durham Hillside in the consolation game. Ashebrook was stunned in the championship game by cross-town rival Huss, led by Sleepy Floyd, 60-59.
