They should not lose their 2 seed over this.Iowa shouldn’t be given a 2 seed.
50-point loss is…I don’t even know. Sad.

2-Seeds should also be legit....Iowa isn't that.Bad loss but flush it and get ready for the tourney.
Bruins are legit. Length and athletic to boot.
Hawks will be fine once they hit home court.
still think they can get the E8.
Based on our body of work for the entire season yes we are. Today was clearly **** and honestly embarrassing. I did not expect to win but to lose by 50 is just ridiculous. Especially in a 1-2 matchup.2-Seeds should also be legit....Iowa isn't that.
So then who should take Iowa’s 2 seed?2-Seeds should also be legit....Iowa isn't that.
Obviously Michigan! So then who should take Iowa’s 2 seed?
Wouldn’t that be some shid. Get jumped by the team Iowa beat by double digits twice bc they had the luxury of getting sent home.Obviously Michigan!
Well, let's see. Vandy lost in the SEC Tourney quarters, we beat Michigan yesterday. We seem to be running out of candidates here.So then who should take Iowa’s 2 seed?
As FRESHMAN. Good Lord dude. Go back and look at Kates stats in 2019 or whenever. Not good as Deal? Lost me there.
Agreed, I mentioned Hannah being a non factor in another post....It wasn't just the backcourt that was terrible. Look at Hannah's line. 0 points on 0-4, just 3 rebounds and zero assists with 2 turnovers. I guess she at least has a sore elbow to blame it on. I don't know what's happening with Kylie. She's playing hard on defense and was never a scorer, but she used to make good decisions and took care of the ball. She has 3 assists against 10 turnovers in the last 3 games. Too often the offense dies when the ball hits her hands.
TCU also lost to West VirginiaWell, let's see. Vandy lost in the SEC Tourney quarters, we beat Michigan yesterday. We seem to be running out of candidates here.
Maybe learn to spell before calling others idiots. It’s a bad look. And once again, DON'T care. Don't waste your time being the keyboard police. It matters not.....
Yep. UCLA's roster has 6 graduating future pros. They graduate 4 WNBA first round and 2 likely WNBA second round draft picks aged 22, 23, 22, 22, 24, and 24.Does UCLA have no bench? I see Levin and Mallegni played against Dugalic and Kneepkens for the final 3 minutes. It's almost like the Illinois game...
Finally - a positive post.Iowa was only down by 30 some points when the subs were put in.
Remember three years ago Iowa led Ohio State by about 30 points after the first quarter.
It is funny seeing some of the comments from casuals, how everything revolves around the elite teams and this "if you ain't first you're dog water" as the Gen Z/Gen A kids would say, mentality. Each of us are certainly entitled to our opinion about our Hawkeyes and their season. My humble opinion is listed below
#1–I believe many of us have unrealistic expectations of this years team. It sounds like many will be disappointed if this team doesn’t win the national tournament or at least make the final four considering the season a failure. When we think about preseason expectations of those who have a reputation of knowing much more about college basketball than us didn’t even have them in the top 5 of the big ten. It makes me believe we have over achieved and had a great season. I celebrate this team.
2–It is obvious to all that we played very poorly today. I’ve been around sports for a whole lot of years and know that happens to all teams to degrees. While I was disappointed in today’s game I’m ready to move on and think about our next game. I still believe. Let’s win the next thing!
3–I think we need to take a deep breath and relax when it comes to tearing apart our players and coaches. For example: one day Taylor S is the next Sid A and the next probably can’t make a South Carolina, LSU, etc roster. Some can hardly wait for Kylie F to be gone and out of the lineup but I’m pretty sure next season will be complaining that we need an all league defender like Kylie F. Supporting Jan as Big 10 COY when things are going great and then wanting her fired when we play poorly. Like she can be responsible for every poor decision our players make. I think players need to take responsibility for their own decisions
I can go on and on but few will be interested as they have made their own opinions. That’s ok.
I have two thoughts on teams I can support and pull for regardless how many games they win or how far they move on in playoffs.
#1–They exhibit toughness
#2–They are connected
That is Hawkeye basketball and I’m with them regardless
I've watched a lot of video of Addie. She is a long range bomber who can fill it up. Yesterday, she had the green light to let it fly. With Stremlow, Chit Chat and her returning our perimeter game should continue to improve. That should open the inside game even nore.Yeah. Deal probably had as good a game as anyone today. One of the few relatively bright spots in an otherwise abysmal performance.
No way, proving you are the #2 team in the conference is important. As Jan said, we are younger than older. UCLA was a big, athletic, broad shouldered team that was extremely physical. Teams with that size are a problem for eveybody.Looking back, a last second shot to win for Michigan wouldn't have been all bad yesterday
I don’t think Wright and TS are nearly a good enough backcourt to compete with the elite teams. They would be backups and vital role players on the Texas and UCLa and UConns of the world. For Iowa to elevate they have to get bigger and better in the backcourt.I've watched a lot of video of Addie. She is a long range bomber who can fill it up. So, you can say that, but Stremlow and CCW, along with Kylie outplayed one of the top backcourts in the country with 2 first team all Big Ten players in Michigan not once but twice. That tells me that they are way better than you are willing to give them credit for. They will both get better over the next 2 years along with Addie who has struggled this year as a freshman but should be much better and much more consistent next year.I don’t think Wright and TS are nearly a good enough backcourt to compete with the elite teams. Good get.Worst overall loss in Iowa women's basketball history: 61 points (114-53 defeat at Texas on December 4, 1978).
Worst B1G loss: 56 points (93-37 defeat vs Indiana during the 1974-75 season).
Agree.CCW yesterday 4-16 and 0-7 Season 43.6% and 45.2%
TS yesterday 2-8 and 2-5 Season 50.5 and 40.4
Maybe we all ought to be giving the UCLA players a ton of credit. Their guards are not necessarily tall, but they are big and they are athletic and they can shoot and they are seniors with experience. Chit Chat and Taylor will be better in the next two years as will all of our players.
The top 3-4 teams? So you want and expect Jan to go get 1st team all big ten players to take their place? We are 2 seed for goodness sakes. That makes you a top 8 team in the entire country. Sure, it would be nice to be UConn and have 5 stars at every position. Or have 6-7 Lauren Betts who can dominate a game and build around her with shooters. We tried. It’s just not easy. And for the record both our guards are really solid players.I don’t think Wright and TS are nearly a good enough backcourt to compete with the elite teams. I think a second place Big10 finish along with a 2 seed in the tournament with 85% of the scoring coming from freshman and sophomores proves they are and will be good enough to compete for and win a Big10 championship for the next 2 years. Addie hasn't been great, but she came in as a 5 star recruit and will hopefully be a much stronger contributor next year.Michigan is better on the wing.
you can’t honestly think Wright and TS will be good enough to elevate Iowa. They will be juniors next year but have inherent limitations that experience won’t fix. There’s a reason JJ tried to recruit highly ranked guards. Just missed on them.,
Of course. But you’re making a straw man argument. I’m not arguing about Iowas core as competing for a b10 title. USC will have more talent and athleticism (a lot more) but Iowa should look pretty good. Need to adjust for HS departure.I think a second place Big10 finish along with a 2 seed in the tournament with 85% of the scoring coming from freshman and sophomores proves they are and will be good enough to compete for and win a Big10 championship for the next 2 years. You’re right. And I think JJ realizes that. She’s swinging for big fish but not getting enough of them yet. And she has to recruit more length and athleticism. It's obvious in the women's game that there are four or five really elite teams and after that a tremendous drop-off. Iowa could play the UCLA's and UCON's of the world ten consecutive games and the results would be the same every time with margins of victory in the 20-30 point range. That's simply the disparity in talent, period.
We'll agree to disagree. They've won a lot of battles this year. I like the young players that Iowa has on the perimeter and they will only continue to get better. It would also be great if Jan could pick up a high quality transfer to add to the rotation because it gets really thin after those 3.Of course. But you’re making a straw man argument. But they simply won’t be athletic or talented wnough in the backcourt.
Looking at recruiting and returning players, USC, UCONn, LsU, South Carolina, and Texas will be elite next year. And much longer and athletic.
