Maybe you are. Maybe youe aren't. Lol
The "people" in sentence one are who are being referred to in sentence two.
in other words, you are saying both of the sides you are referring to need to shut up. Lattimore could be doing a whole lot worse. I haven't heard about him threatening to kill his wife or intimidating women into having abortions.

I didnt start this as a comparison. I have no opinion about HW. I have an opinion about ML.
No one has to like my opinion. I wasnt looking for an argument,. Feel free to disagree.

I am just saying the message that bleeds through this thread is that you can do what you want to as a Black athlete. Just don't say things that hurt our little feelings. Dudes are on here mad about poetry..

Take the word black out of it and it may deserve consideration. I'm sure it happens to lily white boys too.
No one cares about skin color except those that continue to believe it matters. So over this same narrative and discussion.
Divide and conquer. Next up, religion. Its started already.

I think that Marcus was traumatized and demeaned by an incident in Nebraska. He was stopped by the local police and they accused him of being a drug dealer. They completely stripped his car including removing the tires and held for inordinate amount of time. What did they find? Absolutely nothing! I think that this incident changed Marcus outlook on life.

ironically, if you were to watch the video and then read some of the comments posted within this thread, some of you are proving the point of the video. That being Lattimore only had value to some of you because he was our great running back. I always thought the young man handled himself with kindness, respectfulness and dignity, I wish him well with his poetry and I hope he has found happiness.
and the fans continued to treat him exactly the same way as an EX football player....which was pure adulation. Nobody was "getting anything" out of him once he was done at USC. So....the football fans/alumni/anybody associated with Carolina aren't the problem. They didn't abandon him. His west coast political-infused view espoused can be disliked if we feel like it. His present living area isn't far from ground zero antics of "defund the police" and similar pursuits. HE isn't influencing anybody .... he has been influenced.

From Google, If you chose to believe it

The Lattimores were traveling through Nebraska on a cross-country trip when they were pulled over for allegedly driving 5 MPH over the speed limit.

Miranda Lattimore stated on Twitter that they were subjected to a "scary" hour long interrogation, where they were accused of drug-trafficking, and that officers brought in a K-9 unit.

The vehicle was not searched, and Marcus Lattimore was cited for violating the "Move Over" law and received a warning for speeding.

Doesn't sound too traumatizing to me. Hell, I was pulled over for speeding 2 weeks ago. I'm not traumatized, I got on with my life and I don't
feel the need to write poetry about it.

I don't like it, but I don't completely hold it against Marcus either.

Unfortunately, we live in a society that tells specific groups of people that they are systemic victims when they go through the same situations the rest of us do.

For example, every time I was pulled over (which happened a lot) between the ages of 16 and 20 my car was tossed by the cops. Why? Because I was a young male and statistics said I had weed in the car. It didn't help that I was going through a late '90s punk phase and dressed like a bum who smoked weed.

I know I was profiled. I also understand why I was profiled.

I didn't have the world telling me that I was a victim for it and that it wasn't my fault that I got speeding ticket. My parents kept trying to hold me accountable at home to get me to stop speeding, but I wouldn't listen, so I racked up a bunch of tickets in my youth. I know I was speeding and that's why I had so many run-ins with cops and kept getting pulled over.

I was a grad student at USC and was pulled over in Florence and grilled for 45 mins. Why? Cause it was 2am and I was driving back to Columbia after a weekend visiting friends in MB. Cop was an a$$, but it wasn't because of the color of my skin.

Long post, but it always rubs me the wrong way when I see a normal traffic stop get turned into something else. But, people are told its something else constantly enough that they believe it. Its a fundamental lack of honesty that's driven by ideology and creating a victim class because it benefits a few to make strife in our society where it doesn't always exist.

Hate it for him because people loved him. Somehow he turned that love into pressure, which I do get to some degree. I’m sure he felt the pressure to not let people down…but I’ve never seen a player receive so much love and support for an injury as he did. It was like a funeral. He could’ve been the most beloved Gamecock of all-time without playing another down.

I guess he looks at it like, “nobody would’ve love me if not for football.” Which he’s correct as we wouldn’t have known him. Just not sure how that’s the fans fault or the state’s fault.

I’d assume he really struggled to move past football with how it ended and started searching and found something that made him feel better about everything. Angry black man that blames white man for all problems. It’s a popular thing.

Sounds like he wasn’t even quite the guy we were told he was during his time at SC. It’s really a cautionary tale of what happens in so many places where a guy it pumped up to be something they can’t live up to.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Marcus Lattimore. Always. Hopefully he recognizes the love was genuine. If it wasn’t, I believe people would’ve have already written him off for some of the stuff he’s said.
People still love Bug George for some reason. Marcus would be in the same boat if he acted with love towards our fan base.

Can't take black out of it if the race card is your go to play.

The people who still push the race hustle are either making money off of it, or just like playing victim.

This and Marcus also referenced an incident at Dollar General while in college. We all have an outlook based on our life experiences. So, if you really care about Marcus recognize that he is not talking about you. Like I said, Marcus is alright. Let him get through this Chapter of his life his way.
