Question- will these extra years help qualify MB for a Ky state retirement pension or does UK give a pension. I believe he has 24 years at UK.

I thought you had to have 27 years to get a state pension? Or is that just teachers?

They have their own generous retirement program.

If Mitch wasn’t ready to retire and still wanted to collect a paycheck, why didn’t he just stay AD? I want to hope he has gotten some major heat and criticism over Pope. Fearful that his deputy or associate AD is gonna just step into the role.

Im convicned, with absolutely nothing to bsck this claim up, that he was voluntold to step down. If we paid $22mil for this roster, there are a LOT of pissed off business owners, benefactors, etc. And I bet a lot of them had issues with Mitch going back to Cal days (we sure know now, which one of the two we should have gotten rid of first..)..

I think he was told to resign, and I think he knee the pressure was mounting and this was inevitable. It aint like the off season is gonna be any easier. Kentucky is gonna have 14 losses and no meaningful tournament wins.. People are gonna be pissed in march, in April, in May, etc. Seems everyone knew it was time.)

Hopefully his new position requires some fund raising to offset his salary and put money back into the athletic department

Because he hired another failure. This is a way to collect a million per and not be on the hot seat for another blunder.

Not sure if it is the same for Mitch, but state workers can draw partial retirement after 15 years, retirement with insurance after 20, full retirement after 27 years or age 60 with number of years worked used as retirement income multipler.

I thought we were told to quit talking about this. Mitch Barnhart himself told us to quit talking about it. Seems like he’s the expert on his own life and job so we should definitely just trust him. Can’t wait for Wednesday’s game.
