A little sloppy in the 2nd half, but was never in doubt. Nice win, exceeding my expectations for the season by winning 6 B1G games (predicted 5 wins). Would love to get a revenge win over MN and we're playing well, so that would not be much of an upset, given how well we're playing. EO needs to stay out of foul trouble, though. Some decent pieces if we can keep them and this could be a mid-level B1G team with a couple of good additions, especially on the inside, where we need the most help.

Proud of the last few games...definitely seeing improvement but again this an easier schedule...BUT they took care of most business. Would have loved to get 1 of those games vs. MSU which would have tied us for 12th believe it or not at 7-13.

Of all playing today it was again Grant who I thought gave us the least value. Others stepped up and he has stepped back for some strange reason.

Would LOVE to get that win over Minny and who knows vs. UCLA. Could be Lino's audition game I suppose.

So now we are getting scolded for not giving Pike enough credit for keeping the awful team he put together engaged in a lost season? Lol.
He put together a decent roster with an Atlantic 10 budget. Guys get better under Pike. Lino is a perfect example and so is Powers. A Coaches objective is to make big improvements in players's performance. This team is a lot better than the sum of their parts.

if that is indeed a known fact that Pike was a bit foolish in giving him so much court time. I hope it is not.
Lol how could anyone possibly know that? Is this a lino Mark quote? I'm guessing Rutgers hasn't made him an NIL offer yet but if he leaves cool, bring in someone else..sky is not falling..

I am not sure if Lino wanted that news to be made public on this forum or not. If he didn't want it made public then I think it's very irresponsible reporting and a disservice to this young man

Well Geez. I guess the site insiders are just making stuff up... Thanks for the clarification.
People talk, Pike can ask. and I guess you missed the first word in my post which was "IF".
Keeping a player who has proven his worth is a hell of a lot better than taking a chance on someone else...nobody said the sky was falling either.

This team plays hard and gives really good effort, but that’s about where it stops. We won all of our games against teams below us in the conference standings. Let’s not put too much lipstick on this pig, we went 13-18 and 6-14, it is what it is this year. If we went 8-12 and let’s say 4 of our wins came against teams that were above us in the standings I might be more on board with you. We are definitely better than Maryland, PSU, Oregon, and NWestern and we play hard, that’s about as much as I can say for this group.

I'm happy for the coaching staff and players to end the season with a win.On Wednesday against Minnnesota Rutgers will be facing a zone defense and a opponent without bench players.Rutgers needs to press full court to tire their starters,
I’m happy they brought down that kid who entertained us all year dancing to Ke$ha to center court

It just seems like the overall theme on this board is the sky is falling..win, lose, improved play from a player or terrible play from a player the overall theme is woe is me...I don't know where the idea that lino Mark is transferring even comes from so I'm not saying anyone is making anything up. I'm using my brain and asking how could anyone possibly know that? He's recently become a starter and has improved tremendously. Could it be possible that things have changed? Idk but I know there is no way to know that unless it's coming from mark himself...I have yet to see that interview..

Our payroll was below everyone else in conference. It was such a hindrance that Pike was forced to bring in 7 freshman. No other team was forced to do similar

A coaches job is to win games. Period. That involves identifying talent, recruiting those players, and coaching and developing them, including a rational roster continuity plan from year to year. Pike has done a poor job at those things.

Offensive boards? Rutgers has 3, and PSU has 4. Overall, Rutgers has 29 boards, and PSU has 24 at the 11:44 mark.
watch the game again and see what I'm saying. we would have been a much more effective if the second the ball is in the air, everyone isn't transitioning to defense. it's been this way all year and mind boggling as we give up too much on both sides of the ball this way. that's all I'm saying

Because it's not good for the morale of the team nor is it good for a 18 year old kid. Everyone makes comments like I hate work and I'm leaving except many times it's just frustration at the time and you think differently later on

Pike forced himself into bringing in 7 freshman. That's what happens when most of the players on the roster aren't good enough to retain. And those who are don't want to come back and play for him the next season.

I think you’re misunderstanding how this works. The word is coming from the kid’s reps — not the kid. If he’s leaving and doesn’t want it out there, he should’ve told his agent etc not to talk to anyone about it.

Kids need to toughen up then if that hurts their feelings. These aren't 18 high school kids making min wage we should feel sorry for. They are highly compensated adults who will spend a season here and have little to no attachment to Rutgers

I am in agreement with this statement. I think that if it was said by anyone on Lino's team in confidence and this story leaked then it would be wrong

Man Lino Mark can get to the tin. Gonna be painful watching him do that somewhere else next year.
He could start here in the B1G next year?
Why leave? Will he get a huge pay day? More Playing time? Could be the man for four years.
Really wonder what his handlers are advising? Oregon usual culprit?? USC?
Stanford or Cal? Can’t imagine UCLA. USC turned into such a mess. Grass isn’t always greener.

Minnesota was 8-12 /15-16 decimated by injuries and playing 6 guys with Medeved and likely in the range of NIL for RU. We are somewhere below them but better than the worst. Its nothing to write amount about

Michigan also won all their games against teams below them in the standings. No one is suggesting those wins don’t count.

I’m sure if you ask the teams we beat, they would all say that Rutgers sucks and they had no business losing to us. And I’m sure MSU was baffled about needing OT to beat us, and only getting to OT because we missed a foul shot to seal the win.

As someone pointed out, had we won that MSU game, we would have finished in a tie for 12th, which is pretty remarkable with this roster, and I’m saying that as someone who has been calling for a coaching change.

In this new era, with both coaches and players being paid professionals, it’s fair to criticize all of them, and we had plenty to complain about. But, when warranted, it’s also fair to give credit where credit is due.

Give it a rest.

Every post is bashing someone. If it is not the coach, it is the kids.

The coach and the kids seem to be good representatives of our school.

We have an inexperienced team, but they are "bringing it" almost every game and improving every game.

Maybe The MSU coach was onto something when he said we would have a good time IF these guys stayed together. Likely not going to happen, but I am proud of the effort they gave.
