How are there still UK fans defending our mess like this?

I love it when I hear or read, l have faith in Pope and, I believe he can be the right coach for this job. Mitch sacked us with this guy and it goes to show how much people love this team. They want to always think the best and look at things through blue glasses. Well I choose to not let Mitch off that easy, I love UK but no amount of believing or wishing is gonna make this work.

There are certainly noticable issues, but if we're really going to be fair, we have to give him at least one chance without all the injuries. If he fails that, then he has to go. I really want him to succeed but have serious doubts.
The injuries have nothing to do with not coaching the guys you have.

If we’re going to be fair we fire the phony tonight.

I’ve learned Kentucky is the absolute BEST at one thing.
That’s spending tons of money to place plants all over the place to force a narrative. This is not a conspiracy theory. When you see those fans on Twitter that just love everything Mitch does or is okay with this **** show, it is 1000% a UK staffer who has signed an NDA with bought followers to try and make things seem better than they are.
There’s a few in this site as well. You know who they are. We could be 0-30 right now and there’s a select few accounts on here that will tell you everything is completely fine. They call in to radio shows and they always have a smile on their face.

There is one currently posting in this very thread as I speak. Scroll up, it’s not hard to tell.

I will never believe otherwise because if these people aren’t getting paid to lie then my faith in the intellectual capacity of the human race is so far diminished we might as well nuke ourselves.

BS!!!!

injuries have nothing to do with having your team prepared to play. Injuries have nothing to do with having a coherent defensive game plan. Injuries have nothing to do with all the times they’ve fallen behind by double digits. Injuries have nothing to do with not knowing how to sub in players.

So sick of the injury excuse. Pope is exactly the coach that UK hired. He was pretty average before and he’s pretty average now. Nothing is going to change about that.

That’s insane. Absolutely insanity! “We’re in fine shape.”

but I’m too young….even having been watching UK basketball for 35 years.
I grew up in a pastor's family. I remember there were hundreds of really well-meaning people in our church, and most of them were completely moronic in terms of their opinions about how the church should function.

It's the same concerning many of our basketball fans. They love the program just like those church people loved their church; it's just that they don't understand a thing about what is best for the program, so they just stay in that "frozen" position of embracing the status quo.

Perhaps because both can't accept reality, and find it easier to exist in a fairy tale.......

This was a tough year but sometimes, you have to give the other team some credit. This was a brutal schedule and one of the toughest in the country.

Yes, all teams can get better and I suppose UK will but, the nil/tp is a rougher beast to control than a schedule.

Actually injuries have a lot to do with most of those things you mentioned.

Anyone defending this mess is either a troll from another fan base or stupid.
Yea if you defend this stuff at a blue blood program you’re either a troll or pretty low in several departments. Well, i think there’s a small subcategory for people who are easily swayed by confirmation bias and propaganda, and you can have the ability to retain information too. Confirmation bias is one of the most accurate definitions influencing people today. Pope was told early on that Calipari went to war with fans so just whisper to them and talk about the vintage days, you’ll have’m. And it worked on most, even I bought in early after the press conference.

Real simple solution: keep eyes on program. Keep them on the all time statistics. Keep Then focused on the health of the program and not on a man. But we see this in politics often, faith in men regardless of what is happening to the pillars and foundation. This isn’t much different for some.

Injuries don’t account for the mess. What do injuries have to do with recruiting? He’s had 2 injuries this year, 1 of which was to a player that wasn’t good the majority of the time. The other to a high volume shooting PG who isn’t that great himself. Our issues are well beyond recruiting, and Mark has shown signs of personal deterioration too. This job isn’t good for him or his family. There’s nothing left to see, he will never win to the standard here. He might have a decent season here and there, but he cannot be consistent here. That’s 100%. He’s been a head coach going on thirteen years sir. 63% winning percentage.

Golden, Oates and Pearl. The only three realistic candidates who can turn this thing around. The longer you wait, the longer you risk losing them to another top program. Which it sounds like could happen as soon as this offseason if Self retires.
I'd toss in Vogel/Donovan as 4th and 5th options if either wants to leave the NBA universe. But my first three would be the guys you mentioned.

Ehh, we sucked when the "injured" players were playing. So that excuse is moot.
Mark Pope was literally talking about suicidal ideations when they were playing lol. He would joke about wanting to roll up in the corner and die. We had the doors blown off of us several times, really bad blowouts, when those guys were on the court.

Then they go out and everyone in the fanbase and media say we actually got better when they went out lol.

even if they would have made a difference, Mark would have had little improvement because he would be even worse with substitutions. This idea that his problems are due to injury don’t make factual sense. And for the 90th time, JQ is not an injured player in the sense that he went down unexpectedly we knew the day he signed he wouldnt possibly ever play, and we’d be lucky if he was back for a month or 2. When people add him it’s just an absolute lie.

I would say people who loved your family’s church but did not have a position of leadership would express that best by doing their small part to follow biblical teaching, loving God and neighbor, having strong attendance, and being involved in fellowship. Their love for the church wouldn’t be best expressed complaining about every sermon, picking and choosing which biblical passages to apply to their lives, being disrespectful to ecclesiastical practices, etc.

Much in the same way, I look at the program I love and see a coach who is going to be here a third year, whether I’d prefer him to be or not. From the sound of things, it will be a make or break year. I, as a fan, am faced with complaining non-stop now or just trying to make the best out of what could be a very difficult 12 months. I’m not leaving the “family church” —- I’m frustrated just like the other congregants that the new pastor doesn’t shepherd the flock quite the same as the last, but I’m trying in my own way to be faithful. This is the perspective I come from. Just like many of your family church’s congregation were not accountants that could balance the books, most of BBN may not know exactly how to fix this program and we hope the people who do know how simply will.

BBN is broken, even Vitale was calling our fans out last night.
LOL he's done that for decades. He said we were lunatics for "running Tubby off". Eff everything about that guy. PS, he lives in Florida and he was so giddy yesterday that even Dykes had to reign him in.

The OP is the guy you see running down the street screaming FIRE !

He takes a blog from a Kansas site and says "We're the laughing stock of college basketball!" as if it's the talk at every water cooler, everywhere. Rival fans thinking about it as soon as they wake up and high fiving! It's the only thing on their minds all day everyday!! smh

Would we all like to see a better product, stat? Of course.

Anyone that lets' their blood boil over entertainment has their priorities all wrong or more likely, they have screwed up all their main priorities and Pope is the whipping boy. John Aflrica said it can can't unsay it: Most come here to vent about life. Is what it is.
