Iowa will fare just fine. 😉
Jamie: "What's the value of college athletics to Central Iowa and to the State of Iowa because if we lose it, we'll never get it back."

Who says they are going to lose athletics? Why does he think ISU has to spend big money? Spend what you can afford to spend. Most of us live our lives doing just that. You don't have to go on vacation to Hawaii just because your neighbor did.

Exactly. Once they drop down a division, their yearly battle with UNI will be must-watch TV!

They don't even have to do that. The 20.5 million schools can pay football players is a cap, a limit. There's no reason a school can't pay their players less than 20.5 million.

Will Jamie be out panhandling on Lincoln Way or University Ave on Saturday morning pregame?

Maybe he will collect tolls on that walking bridge.

How is ISU going to pay for Clown Town if they’re “postponing” other projects? Things are only going to get more expensive.

Most of the money for Cytown will be from the businesses that rent the buildings and the university, not from the athletic department is the way I understand it. Without a doubt its a gamble, the university has wanted a hotel on the grounds for years, and one is included in the project. Will it make money, who knows, but it's always good to have more eating and drinking establishments around the stadiums. The fan base seems unsure some think it will help the program grow, while others would like to see money going into JTS and Hilton instead of a new project that will may cut into parking for football. The plan says no parking will be lost, but many do not believe it and parking is going to be a problem for ISU going forward and it's going to get worse.

Goldenrod Companies is the developer of Cytown. They are responsible for constructing the buildings and leasing the commercial space.
Iowa State’s investment is limited to land and site improvements. The university committed approximately $20–25 million toward site upgrades, though a significant portion of that amount was allocated to repaving the existing parking lots.
All parking spaces have already been added through the expansion of lots to the north of Hilton Coliseum, Cy Stephens Auditorium, and surrounding areas.
The hotel will be constructed and operated by Marriott Hotels.

$82.7M in Revenue from the B1G to IOWA
$35.6M in Revenue from the Big 12 to Clown U

Here are both schools' budgets.

I wonder what "Foundation Support" is. It seems to be the (by far) largest contributor to the ISU athletic dept. revenue.

South Dakota St was a sellout. Shows you how excited people are to watch Iowas offense!

I used to have a little bit of respect for him but the statement he released after the initial cancelation of the season changed that. He basically threw the gymnasts, their families and the staff under the bus by blaming them for the internal strife in the program. Admittingly I don't follow the program or know any of the facts but the P. R. is a terrible look.

This is the a-hole who, after a Clown football win over IOWA, spent money on billboards in Iowa City & around the state proclaiming it was a Cyclone State.

Now he is begging for help.

Screw Jamie.

Time for Clown U to join the MAC.

Jamie has his tin cup out begging for Big Ten and SEC media money. Those billboards don't come cheap, you know.

Time for Jamie to take a pay cut to save Clown U athletics! :)

Interesting, too, that their new head football coach is "only" making $3M annually. If he has success, he'll be geting the hell out of Ames, too.
