Yes - his dad has been on the board and said the same thing. We are also paying him too - so I believe there is a financial commitment as well.
I heard top prospects are getting NIL already in high school as soon as they sign an agreement. How does that work if a guy decommits and never makes it here?

From what I understand from the Huskeronline pod. I believe in future state the high schoolers won’t be able to get paid but there were some that started getting paid before rule changes. I could totally be wrong so take it with a grain of salt. I would assume in those situations that they would have to pay back of the staff stays in place.

One facet of Nebraska recruiting lore has been developing for years. If a kid commits to Nebraska and doesn't decommit then he is likely a middle of the road player in terms of talent. He is probably a good kid in general but just doesn't have that elite talent needed to win more than 7 games.

Nebraska football sucks so bad that kids use Nebraska as their third or fourth fallback option. They know their possibilities of going to the NFL are slim to none if they play for Nebraska. Sure, there are a few that make it every so often but their odds are lower by going to a school that can't develop players.

Just saw an article saying that the president is working on fixing this NIL crap
Back in 2024 Kamala Harris gives a history lesson said NCAA women’s tournament wasn’t allowed to have Brackets until 2022.

Another example why she was the most incompetent vice president we have ever had.

Sorry the derailing on the thread.

Not sure what that has to do with anything but ok

It doesn’t. But you know damn well the far left crying because Trumps trying to fix NCAA’s NIL situation.
So what? Damn I'm getting annoyed. If anyone is going to fix this, Trump will. But why do you give a **** what the far left thinks? Let it go dude.

Thank god it doesn't really matter because no high school kids are going to stay at a school long enough to win national title. It is a weird conundrum to have a really bad TP class, but a really good HS class, when we know those kids aren't going to make it campus or will never compete with 22 year old transfers. The same erosion of skill happening in the NFL, college, is also happening in high school football. If you take away On3, rivals do we even know or care about these recruits whatsoever?

We don't. And we don't. And therein lies the fundamental problem of NIL/portal era. "Caring" was the currency that counted. The money followed that.

There was a way to do this correctly, to control and manage the change from present state to future state. Instead, those in power were like nah **** it lets get paid bro. And they did, leaving a hollowed out husk in their wake. Now, predicatbly the caring is drying up. The money is soon to follow. Do YOU want to put another wing on Matt Rhule's grandchildren's second homes?

In the final analysis, this was nothing more than an opportunistic cash grab by those who were lucky enough and hollow enough to take advantage. But now even that will be gone soon, and it ain't coming back.

This is what a high 4 star/5 star qb should do. Raiola basically committing the final day possible may have actually hurt the program. He didn't bring in any big skill players because they were already committed. McCord may have actually been a better fit and we could have gotten in a transfer the following year.

Smart teams are not paying until you show up and practice. Contracts are more enforceable nowadays.

I'm afraid those days are over. Seems neat in theory. And certainly was the way back in the day. But the formula today looks nothing like that. The formula today looks like this...

There's just no scenario whatsoever (as things currently stand) where a guy like Trae puts together a group of high school studs and in a couple years, that translates into success for the school. I know a bunch of fans are hanging their hope on that playing out like it would have 10 years ago, but it won't. That group of recruits will dissolve before it ever comes to fruition and will look nothing like what this weekend's group of visitors looks like.

Hell, if Trae is as committed to Rhule, and not Nebraska, as he claims to be, he might not even be here in a year. Let alone his group of peer recruits who are going to have a ton of other options.

Unless we start winning, there won’t be any recruits coming here, highschool or college transfer…

I'm Trae's dad and so you know. every recruit picks the school based off of a relationship with the coach. Because what all these kids are going to school for they can get a most schools. My son stating he is committed to Coach Rhule is because there is nothing else at this time to hang his hat on. While learning about the school. So if he Rhule left yes he has great relationships with other coaches right now. If Rhule leaves after he is there, I'd beat Trae wouldn't leave as he is finding he loves Lincoln. Trust when I say Nebraska what they offered from other schools are not even top 5. Yet in the year he has been committed no visits to other schools. Shut down recruitment early. Moving to Lincoln his Sr year. What the hell else more do you want from these young men. FYI none of you are seeing how this class the 26 class and what they will do with the 28 class. Im willing to bet the core of this 27 class stays together.

Thank you. Trae seems like a young man with a good head on his shoulders. Classy and determined, by all accounts. Exciting to think of him representing the Huskers!

Whether you are his Dad or not - your post is a very reasonable message and seems to fit Trae's personality. We have all loved the kid from day 1 and cannot WAIT for him to arrive. He seems like an old school recruit, the type most of us wish there were move of. In a day of greed and lacking loyalty, as fans we feel burned. Burned by the sport that we all loved so much.

So when a poster talks about Trae leaving if Rhule leaves, or his teammates leaving, or any of the above - it's not because of Trae and who he is, it's because of the mess of a sport he plays in. We all hope order is restored and kids commitments will keep them around at least 3, maybe 4-5 years.

I have a hard time getting excited about recruiting these days because they are 18 and most of them will see dollar signs and jump at the first sign of more money. We all hope Trae isn't that guy, but the odds are against it when comparing to the thousands of CFB players out there.

I hope this '27 class does what the '08 class COULD have done if Callahan had fired his buddy and kept the class together. I am hopeful but my optimism is being pushed to the limit because of how kids are acting these days. Not to mention our coaching situation is pretty shaky right now.

100% this. What I said had nothing to do with Trae (or his dad).
