We have largely been non-competitive in conference play. A full half our conference games, 9 of our 14, losses have been by double digits. We've been blown out 6 times. Average conference loss is by 15.9 points.

We've lost by 19 points 3 times. We lost by 34 and 47 points.

would have been nice if we could have reached 20 loses, but we will come up one loss short, oh well there is always next year, especially if Paris remains.

2 more loses to go before this comes to a conclusion
Here’s something tha will make you feel better…

LSU and Oklahoma rumors are that they are bringing back their coaches for one more year, so if we fire Paris, we’d be the only SEC school making a coaching hire unless another coach leaves for another job

The portal window for basketball opens April 7th. Paris will pick up some transfers and FGF will be full of posts about how he has addressed the issues and next season is going to be special. A new asst. or two and there will be loads of talk about Paris "winning the offseason".

It's the Carolina way.

I recall a great deal of optimism surrounding the most recent crop of transfers.

Even if this turns out to be true, we would still face some competition in attracting some serious candidates. Memphis, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Butler are rumored to be firing their coaches.
Some may not want to hear this, but the above mentioned schools are better destinations when it comes to MBB than Carolina.

I think we can hire a better coach than Lamont Paris, even with these other schools looking for their next coach. I really hope Donati will make a change!

This possibly bespeaks the clear priority of football over basketball. One is being sacrificed to finance the other

I remember not feeling confident on the transfers for this year and being told by some ( I still remember who) that I didn't understand college basketball.

If that’s the case, then we need to make sure Donati is fired too. If he has no faith that the guys he helped bring in can change things to improve football, then we have a serious problem.

I would say the more likely conclusion is that we can’t afford the buyout.

I was responding to the situations at LSU and Oklahoma. I think their historical emphasis of football is self-evident. I already know that we can afford a buyout less than they, and probably Oklahoma less than LSU.
