A real Kentucky boy. Stuck it out through everything and brought home number 8. Wouldn’t have done it without AD and crew but also they wouldn’t have done it without him. Mr. Clutch. Mr come through. Darius Miller.

Gets overlooked by the superstars on that team. Name barely gets mentioned. He even ended up having the same type of pro career. Not a star but flashy moments and always solid. Consistent.

I don’t think Miller is under appreciated.

I feel like i’ve seen a lot of UK fans over the years talk about how good he was on that 2012 team and the first final four team in 13 years in 2011.

My first thoughts go to guys that didn’t win a ship. Who’s team accomplishments are lacking because they came around during bad times.

Ramel Bradley is one of them. Smooth gave his all. Was sort of an afterthought in that 2005 #1 recruting class with Rondo, Crawford and Morris. Waited his turn with no talk of transfer or attitude issues.

Then played his senior year for a lunatic. Had something like 7 games in a row where he played all 40 minutes and only ended that streak because some big ogre looking dude from Goergia clobbered him going to the basket and he finally had to come out.

This team could use a Ramel Bradley for sure.

Ramel Bradley is definitely one of my favorites. Probably the first guard that I seen multiple years in my beginning Cat days. When I actually understood the game. He’s an all timer for me also. Along with his teammate Shagari. Loved that tall a ss dude back then for some reason the whole family got hyped when he entered the game.

I'll go with Jim Andrews. He was an outstanding center who was pretty well forgotten long ago.

  • Averaged 20.1 points and 12.4 rebounds per game as a senior and 21.5 points and 11.3 rebounds as a junior — the last UK player to average 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in two consecutive seasons.
  • Recorded 43 double-doubles in his career (third all-time at UK), including 19 as a junior and 21 as a senior.

Doron Lamb was a terrific player that I really liked. He was a great shooter, one of the best that Cal ever had. He made big playes and didn't make many mistakes. He played with some super stars and didn't get the credit that he deserved IMO.
Also, I think we over look how good Brandon Knight was as well.

BK gets overlooked because his pro career didn’t work out the best imo. He was a killer at UK. Him and Jorts made it a fun season.

For me it's Allen Edwards. I hadly ever see his name mentioned. Four Elite Eights. Three Final Fours. Two national titles. Elite defender. He was "the smartest player" Pitino ever coached. Multi-positional. His defense in the '98 comeback against Duke was Tony Allen level. If he's 100% healthy in 1997, we win that title, too.

Biggest mistake Pitino ever made was not redshirting Edwards in 1995 as a frosh so that UK could have had him in 1999. If you have Edwards in 1999, we make the Final Four that year, too. The only position we were lacking that season was shooting guard.

We used to love players with attitude. Now we have fans saying they don’t want Stokes because he’s a bully. Not a sweetheart. This used to be the attitude of Kentucky ..
I'm not saying yes or no to Stokes, but there is a difference between not backing down on the court and being a 6'7 bully in high school. Antonio Reeves is underappreciated imo.

Gotta throw Julius Randle in here too. Everybody remembers Aaron Harrison’s shots that tournament, but Randle was an absolute man child in the paint and we aren’t even in a position for Aaron to make those shots if not for him. Not even close actually.

Ravi Moss. For me anyway. My second favorite UK player. Walk on who played himself into a scholarship later. Every time he stepped on to the court to play, he had the biggest smile on his face because he loved just being there and gave everything he had.

Gerald Fitch.
Literally the first team I ever watched. How could I not love fitch. Just random players from when I think of when I first got into UK.

Barely remember the T Prince Keith Bogans teams but remember seeing them. Gerald fitch cliff hawkins stick out. Chuck Hayes Eric Daniels Randolph Morris Rajon Rondo Ravi Moss. Favorite UK player ever Kelenna Az.. not even going to try spell his last name but yall know. Patrick Sparks Ramel Bradley Joe Crawford ..

I was too young to be upset with Tubby. UK was fun to me back then but I bet I would be giving Tubby crap if I understood what was going on.

Gonna go with Oscar Tshiebwe. National Player of the Year -- we've only had two of those. He's probably one of the three or four greatest players that has ever played at the school, but people tend to focus on the things he wasn't great at. He wasn't an elite rim protector (but was better than given credit for) and wasn't an above the rim interior finisher, but deserves more praise than he gets. Sounds weird to call a NPOY underappreciated, but he certainly was IMO.

As far as another player I'd consider underappreciated -- Erik Daniels. He wasn't an outside shooter, but was an elite passer, could switch defensively onto any player in the country, could score in the post, finish with either hand, rebound, slash, could play SF, PF or C, and did all of the little things that make a good team a great one.

And that's a fair point. I think, while he was a popular player, he often got unfairly maligned and blamed for our defensive struggles. If you start looking closely at how he performed defensively when healthy, he was a lot better than people say. So, yes, I think he was underappreciated and undervalued by our fans at that time.

Josh Harrelson is a good one. Without him getting his **** together through the season prior and stepping in when Kanter couldn't was huge for that Final Four team. Without him, OSU would of dominated UK in the paint. Not to mention the dodgeball moment we all love.

No chance at the final four without him. That year was magical. Never expected Jorts to turn into a force. Sullinger.

The whole board can laugh at me.. but Harrelsons face in that video about made me tear up knowing the back story and stuff and the season that unfolded.

that’s what I miss. Players playing 100%. He was on a mission like it was personal. Wasn’t there for a basketball game.

Doron Lamb is my choice as well. Anthony Davis, MKG and Terrence Jones got all the hype in 2012 during that championship run. We don’t win the championship in 2012 without Doron Lamb. People forget at the beginning of that season that team wasn’t an offensive juggernaut. It became one but they had trouble scoring to start the season. The one consistent thing they had was Lamb. We probably lose a couple more games at the beginning of that season if it wasn’t for his consistent play throughout the whole season.

Oscar acted like he couldn’t speak English. Became a preacher. Set records. Became national player of the year.Became a legend. And Cal couldn’t do a thing with him. That’s why it was time for Cal to go.
Once he said he was coming back for another year Cal should have done everything possible to find another PG to replace Wheeler with a better shooter. Completely insane.

I liked the way we matched up with OSU and thought we had a chance to win. When Jorts made that play, I knew we were going to win that game.

Loved Jorts. I never looked at it as him getting it together, I looked at it as a player Cal ignored because he wasn't one of his boys. He only turned to him in desperation.
