Who are these guys who can theoretically hit shots?
Not on our team.

Man he’s trying to take a roster without any shot makers other than BS, no one who can create their own shot, and inconsistent shooters and figure out game to game who might give him anything. Not even game to game but within the game. It’s one of the more impressive coaching jobs I’ve seen this year.

Not saying fire him or anything crazy. Just weird that he’s riding with random guys when you need points

I think this is the problem. We obviously don't have a rim protector right now. Maybe Jurak can help in the future? But we need a big, big down low. Cam is an old school 4. AF is a stretch 4. Neither are a 5 and in the Big Ten you have to have a 5. Even so, Cam still had double figures tonight.

That means we have to have multiple outside shooters. It is pretty clear we have Stirtz, Sage and then Koch when he is on and that is it. Howard isn't a great 3 pt shooter. Hausen is, unfortunately, showing why he doesn't play in the PSU game. Combs, apparently, never will shoot one again.

I said this to a buddy tonight.
When Stirtz is good and nobody else is, we lose.
When Stirtz is good and one other guy goes with on offense, we can compete and win just about half of the games.
When Stirtz is good and TWO guys go with him, we are REALLY good.

I just don't think we have a ton of talent and Ben is getting the most out of them on most nights.

I'm shocked at how much juice BMC has squeezed from this squad, because we don't have much consistent talent. A rim protector is the #1 need for this team in the portal, even an Olaseni would bring balance to our bigs next season.

Nice analysis. Doing the best with what he currently has. Over time, he'll sculpt the roster into a BIG roster.

Tied at under a minute, down two and Stirtz missed a three to lead with 4 seconds to go. Not to mention we were in foul trouble.

Michigan has a $20M roster, yet we took them to the brink.

Coach McCollum has done more with less. No such thing as moral victories but the boys played their guts out.

Excited Lets Go GIF
The foundation is being laid and if you can't see it, then honestly you don't know s h ! t about basketball. Ben will win here and he will win big. FFS some of you so called fans are insufferable. I think this season has been a resounding success considering you are doing a hard reset on the program. Take a step off the ledge haters.

I think Ben is nite and day better than Fran, just concerned about his recruiting or lack of. So far his lack of getting guards is concerning. If Iowa is rumored to have a larger NIL PROVE IT!! So far recruits say they love Ben, they visit then they move on. A pattern that continues.

Michigan lost to Duke and Wisky - that's it. Blowing everyone else out. Regular season B1G champs. On the short list to win it all.

They shot 53% from the floor. Paraded to the FT line and made 77%. Outrebounded the Hawks by 13.

Hawks have no one that would play for Michigan.

Another blowout? No, beat the Hawks by 3.

And some here are down on Ben??

Stirtz would start at PG for them, no doubt.

We were so outmanned. We stayed in this game because we were at home and the boys were playing hard and agressive. I really never felt we would win that game pretty much the entire night. I just enjoyed a great game after we have been struggling. Hope we have some confidence to play well the next few games. 26 in the net with only one B1G game left in the regular season. I would imagine most every hawk fan would have signed up for that prior to the season starting.

Why must our fans be like this? It's astonishing, really.
Some are not Hawk fans, some are delusional and others just don't know their a$$ from a hole in the wall.

Almost every team that we've faced, the coaches talk about how well coached this team is.

A lot of role players, not much support for Stirtz offensively. When he is off, we don't have enough to get over the top

All this criticism of Ben and the players, yet no mention of another incompetent officiating job? Well, I'll fix that.

With about 10 minutes to play, Iowa had 11 fouls, Michigan had 3. When their 7-3 guy smashed a throw off the glass to beat the shot clock, he clearly traveled, shuffled his feet, looked like the baby giraffe that he is. But NO call?! What the hell . . . even Settles timidly admitted it was a travel, fearful of sounding like an Iowa homer. No call there is plain incompetence, and it cost Iowa two points in a game they lost by three.

How about the one foul on Stirtz, a total phantom call. And twice Howard was called for a foul for having the audacity to be in perfect guarding position and getting run over by a Michigan player. And then there was the call against Banks down in the lane when the Michigan guy had him in a hold that would make Tom Brands envious. Banks tries to escape the take-down assault and, yes, Banks is called for a foul. You can see the official staring at that battle the entire time, and he waits and waits and waits and then makes that call against Iowa.

If Iowa makes ONE more shot and Michigan misses ONE more shot, Iowa wins. If Banks doesn't have the ball knocked off his knee in the closing seconds, Iowa has a great chance to win. If Stirtz three-pointer that circled the rim several times and spun out stays in, Iowa is at least in OT.

So sure, as in any game, there were many things Iowa could have done better to get the win. But let's not let the freakin' officials off the hook. They played as big a role in the outcome as anyone.

Iowa played a fantastic game against a team that has superior talent, great coaching, and tremendous size, a team that has lost two games all season and is #3 in the country. Iowa did everything but win. One more correct call, one more good bounce, and Iowa has one of the greatest upsets in recent memory. So damn close . . . hell yes it hurts.

Whining about the refs is more insufferable to read than people questioning McCollum.

You calling anyone else insufferable is pure comedic gold. The irony is not lost on me.

I feel sorry for you.
Lol that you feel sorry for me. You didn’t even watch the game. You never watch any other ball except the Hawks, and you couldn’t even do that last night. You are the perfect stereotype.
