Providence. They have very good players. The coach has not been able to figure it out and put together a team. He's a horrible defensive coach or horrible at getting them to actually play defense. I really thought they were going to be so much better this year.

Marquette if they can keep it together also has lots of talent and should be good next year.

I hear more about PC. Surprising that Cooley cant get it going. Is this the 3rd yr at GU, or 4th. And I am surprised that Shaka didnt turn it around at least a little this yr. Wonder if he modifies his philosophy on filling his roster.

I guess I vote for PC.

Providence seems to have the most potential.

Georgetown has also been a major disappointment but they are not as talented as the Friars.

I believe Marquette was simply overrated,

Thus I agree with the posters above, Providence is the biggest disappointment and that will invariably lead to Kim English's dismissal.

Cooley’s cronies like Goodman who gaslit providence fans have sure been quiet the past couple of years.

no doubt GT and PC are way more talented than their records indicate. MU is too young to be a real underachiever.

Not sure Creighton is an underachiever but we are used to so much more from them.

Close but Cooley is considered a high level coach and English is likely done, so I say Georgetown.

Creighton. We’re used to seeing so much more from them. They spent a lot in NIL and didn’t get the return.

Providence a close second.

Butler a close third. They have 2 top10 players in the league

Supposedly, Shaka refused to pay incoming guys more than what he was paying returnees. Wonder if he will change his tune moving forward.

I agree re Providence; Marquette has said they will utilize the portal this off season. I wonder of Shaka had a change of heart...or if a "Visit" from his AD changed his mind...lol.

That's what happens when you have a season like they have had; you can try to be unique for as long as it works...but once it doesn't, you have to bend and adjust.

The thing is. Marquette has the resources to compete in NIL, so they should do fairly well in the portal. Biggest issue for them is, can they keep the frosh from moving over to the Pitino pile...

Marquette for me. A premium program with a ton of money. Four straight NCAAs under Shaka, including two seasons as a 2-seed. Preseason top 50 on kenpom. Picked 5th by the coaches.

And they suck. Maybe the worst team in the league. Worse than any team Wojo ever put on the floor. Not as bad as our disaster last year, but given Marquette's financial advantages, maybe it is worse?

A good argument can be made for any of them, but I think Providence takes the cake for me.

Individual player-wise, I was amazed all year how awful Owen Freeman has been for Creighton. He came in as a highly regarded transfer and has done nothing all year.

Providence for me. There is quite a bit of talent there, both front and back courts. English couldn't make it work even a little.

Really surprised Creighton is not getting more criticism here.

Clearly picked to be 3rd in the coaches poll. Top 25 ranked to start the season.

And they had 3 players make the preseason all conference team.

Owen Freeman - 1st team
Josh Dix - 2nd team
Nick Graves - 3rd team

Freeman in particular averaged 16.7 ppg and 6.7 rebounds for Iowa as a sophomore. This year he has only averaged 5.3 ppg in the time he has suited up.

Could you imagine the S**T Sha would be getting on this board if a top $$ transfer was putting up 1/3 of his production from when he was a sophomore at a P5 school.

You are not wrong about Creighton. Their record isn’t as bad as the others and they lost a starter in McAndrews who they projected highly. But if the coach wasn’t Mac and if they weren’t located where they are, it would be getting more discussion here.

I never was really high on Creighton. Kaulkbrenner brought a defensive presence to Creighton that they had been missing for so long. Impossible to replace that in 1 year. I was a little higher on PC but with Corey Floyd still a main part of their team I knew there had to be a ceiling.

Georgetown to me was by far, the biggest disappointment. Between Cooley's salary & their NIL they are spending a sh*t ton of $. The academic elite faculty can not be happy with the results.

Really hard to believe DePaul win one Q1 win has more Q1 wins than as Marquette, Xavier and Georgetown combined.

Likewise, Providence has one Q1 win.

Marquette is 2-16 against Q1 and Q2. Plus they have three Q3 losses. Simply abysmal.

How non competitive the league was after UCONN and St. John's. Villanova is way behind the top two in third place ; then the other eight teams were just trying to beat up on each other. Hall win on Friday would nix this. Creighton's swoon is the biggest surprise. "Locally" our two losses to Depaul and the train wreck at Creighton are major disappointments.
