Total of $3.8mil, UK athletics is truly a cesspool of greed and corruption. That money could be used toward NIL for players. Not to mention they’re in a budget shortfall and had to take a loan from the university due to revenue sharing. Glad we’re giving away $4mil to a washed up AD so he can have a pointless position.

Duh. He absolutely got money from the JMI deal. Nobody in their right mind signs a contract until 2040 without first determining it will be a successful working relationship. Unless... you stand to make big bucks from pushing the deal through.
I see this all the time with outside contractors submitting job bids for the company I work for. Contractor gets the bid despite outrageous price quotes or being know for quality work. It's a despicable practice and unfortunately it's running rampant within the UK athletics department. Mitch and company want money for their partners and themselves.

Board of Trustees could pretty much wipe the slate clean and we'd be much better off for it. I love the Commonwealth, but the good ol boy system is alive and well within our borders and it degrades everything it touches.

I loathe that the first thing Pope thanked Barnhart for was his faith. Good Christian faith is PERSONAL. It should have zero, zilch, and nada to do with his position as AD.

UK pissed me off by towing my car with a valid permit from an employee lot while I worked as a broke *** Graduate Assistant making $20k, so I don't donate to them. That $400 ticket cost the University thousands and thousands of dollars.

I know of several people, including me, who have contacted the Board of Trustees about this disgraceful fleecing of the athletic department.

1) who nominates and approves the UK Board of Trustees, and how many were
involving nominations from existing trustees, member elections, or recommendations from senior leadership ( aka current UK president)?
2) who pays for UK employees the taxes for parachute salaries over 1 million . Include here UK president and UK AD and his new job…
3) what kind of role and salary does the UK President secured for post Presidential job.
4) What is the UK budget surplus/ deficit currently and projected for let’s say next 4 years when all these deals, and payouts will need to be paid out.
5) what should commonwealth governor involvement be in some of these contracts , deals, including JMI, from the stewardship perspective of the flagship university of the commonwealth?

I think these are all legitimate questions, because the UK general fund is primarily supported by state appropriations from the Commonwealth of Kentucky General Assembly and student tuition. Other contributors include investment income, and self-supporting activities that generate fees. It is also supported by private donations, which are increasingly important to the university's growth and operations.

I mean Barney Pickin, a new basketball coach and football coach instead of retiring, letting the new A.D. pick his own guys and now Eli picking ad when that guy looks like he should be in a nursing home. He’s making the decision for his successor. It’s just completely wrong and what about this listening tour anybody heard anything about that? How many a piece seriously gonna do a listening tour the first thing he’s gonna need to do is hire an athletic director whose priority is to get our basketball program back the way that CM Newton did sorry football. You had your chance the last 20 years and still couldn’t win. We have to get our Top program going that’s the only thing this university is a respected for hopefully Stein pans out if not by then the new A.D. will know enough to hire a football coach if he’s a basketball guy. Or you use your brain, Eli and fill out package of Strickland and golden. I mean it’s pretty sick that this guy been making the decisions for athletics. I just watched a video where Mitch Barnhart basically said that he made a lot of bad decisions that we don’t need Barney 2.0. He knows he screwed us.

The POS that has destroyed one of the greatest MBB programs is getting rewarded, you can't make this sh#t up. The UK fanbase needs to raise complete hell with the Board of Trustees, this is unacceptable !!!
Then why would they add 2 years and put more money on the deal? A buyout would just be paying out his original contract and being done.
