besides the first three B1G games and Illinois, we really should not lose this year. that would put us 8-4 at worst. But, upsets happen.

There is just too much youth/question marks in too many places to make me think 8 or 9 victories is our ceiling.

9-3 and 6-3 in conference. We will be better than most think.

I hope you are correct. Going to be pretty young on both sides of ball and special teams. That being said if qb situation is what a lot of people say it will be. Personally I think 8-4.

Pretty safe bet, I've seen a lot of other media members and podcasters say similar predictions. Hawks have to win at least one of the first three B1G games if we want a chance at the playoffs. Can't sleep on the back half either, but luckily Iowa usually hits their stride halfway through the season.

10-2 and ceiling is 11-1 as I don’t think Iowa has what it takes to beat the mighty buckeyes … but upsets can happen. I don’t think they will take a L @ Michigan this season and I think Iowa beats them soundly

In this new 18 team B1G this is probably the best schedule Iowa will get for a long time. I see 10 (maybe 11?) winnable games. If Kirk is gonna make the playoffs before he retires this is probably the year. I know the team is young but it’s pretty much now or never.

That being said I think they will go 9-3 :(. 4 hard games on this schedule and 3 of them on the road, with the lone home game against OSU. I do think we catch another ranked win this season against Washington, Michigan, or Illinois though.

He predicts 2 things:

1) Kirk will continue to be the greatest ever
2) We’ll only win if we run the ball 95% of the time.
1. Kirk is one of the greatest ever. That's for sure.

2. Don't have to run 95% to win.
But it sure would be nice if Iowa ran it at least 90% of the time.
The point all along is fans have used the passing game narrative in attempts to justify what simply amounts to poor and unjustifiable fan behavior.

2027 we will have a MUCH more experienced team. That noted, having healthy QBs this spring is huge. And 30 new guys here for the spring is really HUGE! These two things give us an extra 2 wins for 2026... Now are they 8/9 wins or 10/11 wins?

The fact we face our 3 toughest B1G games right away, is not a good thing. Having them in November would have been a huge bump for this team.

Ohio State will definitely reload, but they lose 8 starters on defense. 3 of which are going to be 1st round, if not near top 10 picks. They hang on to Smith, but lose Tate on the offense. They are kfar from unbeatable.
Wek
Yea, they signed the top wr in 6'6" Henry ( son of NFL wr) and a couple more top wrs.
Sayin will be a sophomore....seemed to be around 80% last year, but maybe their defense is still figuring it out 5 weeks in...

Mich is loaded.
Wash might have Heisman guy at QB.

Think we can hang w rest.

As long as the refs allow Smith to interfere and get away with it they will be hard to beat. WR should not be allowed to stiff arm while going for the ball.

Agreed... If Hecklinski can be as productive as Drew Tate's sophomore season, then it is CFP! Big IF. Otherwise it is a 8/9 win season.
The offense is going to have to compensate for a defense that may not be quite as good as last year, especially the first half of the season.

I always wait until the end of Fall camp to make a more informed prediction. Player development reports, roster depth, injuries including key/serious injuries -for Iowa AND their opponents - comes into much better focus.

In any event, with Ferentz I start with the historical KF Line [8-4] and adjust accordingly. Last year I predicted 9-3. I’m not sure I’ll adjust it for 2026 but we’ll see what develops.

It seems that the PP's defense is pretty much loaded and locked every year.

I was going to say anything less than a National Championship is a huge fail. Ricky Bobby knows.

If everyone else in college football does their f***ing job, then it should end in a national championship.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of teams and other entities in this sport that are bad at their f***ing job of helping Iowa win a national championship............

Just put him on ignore like everyone else. He's admitted he's only here to police fans, which is why he always attempts to derail threads and never adds anything of value to conversations. It's all about ego and control with that psycho. Just laugh at him and move on.
