Ostrander knows how to do more with less. I was advocating for us to hire him. Most everyone on here laughed at that. If we had hired Ostrander instead of the current staff, it’s very plausible he’d run the program at half or less the current $8M annual expense plus half NIL level, and still be really good- obviously.

Honestly 17 off with the poor ol' Mississippi State bull ****. It's a top ten opponent in March. Let's see who's playing deeper in June.

Look I'm pissed too, but we have a good ball club. Gotta figure some things out, but ace was always going to cool off after the way he started the year.

Everyone needs to stop being little bitches about a loss to a decent team.

I hear you, but you got to find a way to win one of the last two. Mistakes cost us both games.

Sun belt to ***. They are damn sun belt team that has 1/10 of the resources.

If you're the big bad *** &tate fans hyped up, you wouldn't piss away the game and find a way to win.

16 sec wins.

You do realize the last non sec team to win the CWS was Coastal. Guess what league they play in.... The Sun Belt. It's a good baseball league. It's a Tuesday in March against another top ten team.

Not remotely worried about us in the long run. We’ve lost two early season games to Top 10 teams by one run, both with some fluky things happening (wild pitches including multiple of them on strikeouts, missed pop up tonight, ground rule double and questionable end of game strike zone on Sunday). And in both games we fell behind early and stormed all the way back.

UCLA and USM will both be hosting, both might be Top 8 seeds too. We should be in that mix too. If we are sitting at 5-1 or 4-2 in SEC play in two and a half weeks (we are better than Arkansas and Vandy is really struggling), nobody will really care that we lost the two nonconference games that we did. But that said, go finish strong against Lipscomb and Tulane and then gear up for SEC play.

Well then...pressure is on USM to make Omaha, make the finals, and WIN it all just like Coastal has done.

And made it to the CWS finals last year too.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s very much a two team league right now…. But the two programs at the top are really good. Southern has hosted a Regional and/or a Super in 3 of the last 5 years, and this year will probably make it 4 of the last 6.

the 9th inning tonight to remind you that money doesn’t buy wins when the other guy’s got better coaching and heart.
Ostrander just took our $8M program + $3M NIL squad to the woodshed with a FRACTION of the resources. You STFU. Dummy.

Yeah, I deleted a bunch of stuff about last years' finals, just petty stuff about LSU's short dumpy coach.

FYI, Oak said in postgame that Milewski has a back injury and hasn’t been able to take BP in about two weeks. Teel missed tonight because he was sick, sounded like the flu.

... and USM has better players. They are better at SS, Catcher and bullpen to name a few.

Then hosting 3 supers in 5 years .... USM has a better baseball program right now.

I’m not worried at all about last night. That’s a very good baseball team with a very good coach. We lost one-run games to the #1 and #10 teams in the country, both games could have gone either way. When you’re playing teams at that level, the margin for error is extremely small. There were also some great coaching moments and learning opportunities that will come from both games. In the long run, we’ll be a much better team because we played them.

I don't understand how you can be a baseball fan and not understand that baseball is not like football or even basketball. Even if USM were a bad program, most teams are going to drop games to bad programs at one time or other throughout the year. A pitcher has a bad outing, or you make a couple of costly errors, and that will offset a pretty decent talent gap in a lot of games.

We got a problem at catcher. 2 can hit but can't catch. 1 can catch but can't hit.
That doesn't really sound like a hard problem to fix. Put the one that can catch and one of the ones that can hit in the same number. Tell the one that can catch to never take his mask off on the field. Then just have one of those portable changing curtains in the dugout and only let one of them out at a time depending on whether we are batting or catching. Surely if Oak is a good coach he can figure that out.

I thought until the 7th last night Raymond had been fine. One of the WP’s I thought he had good position on, just an unfortunate bounce off his chest protector. The second one was less good position.

Milewski is hurt or we’d have seen more of him by now. He was opening day starter for a reason, so maybe he can get healthy and get his bat going. I hesitate to say he can’t hit when healthy given that he hit .300 with 16 homers last year at his previous school.

Their Super Bowl, just a midweek game for us.
Lol, whatever makes you feel better. It's an important game to us and if BOC can't get them up to play this game we got issues.

I'm a bit worried because we have some major flaws. We absolutely under no circumstances have a catcher. Got a couple of guys with decent sticks but they can't block for ****. Plus, they will get ran on at will in SEC play. None of them has a strong arm. In addition, we do not have a lock down closer. Davis is not the answer but I'm not sure we have anyone any better.

It’s not as important as the SEC games. It’s not as important as the UMiss game in Pearl. It’s not as important as the UCLA game & is no more important than Arizona State or VA Tech. It’s a game. It would be nice to win. But don’t make it out it’s some huge rivalry game. It’s not.

Catcher is what it is, especially with our Plan A guy injured at the moment. We aren’t going to lose games on wild pitches very often. Kinda fluky that it happened twice in 48 hours.

I think you’re bailing on Davis awfully quick. We tried to use him for a 3 inning save and he ran out of gas against an elite lineup. In shorter stints he’s been very good. Plus if that doesn’t work out, Webb has been outstanding so far and may end up being our closer anyway.

Milewski is not a great defensive catcher either. That was the knock on him coming in.

Davis only had one stint that was shorter and that was one inning vs Delaware. His only other outing he gave up a run in 3 innings and that was in his third inning to pitch so maybe we can't stretch him that long. Either way, he's got to get better command. I think Webb is better suited for the set up role. He's good but doesn't have enough swing/miss to be a SEC closer, IMO.
