Billionaires

Raise taxes on Billionaires
Sounds good but chat GPT said that if you consficated all the wealth of all the billionairs in the USA it would fund the federal budget for 8-12 months. The money needed comes from the middle class because of the numbers. Not saying billionaires shouldn’t pay more but that is not the answer to our fiscal woes.

Should be 0 state income tax in ky anyway. Would be smart to align with the other growth states. Millionares pump money into the economy, people making 30k a year dont. Its common sense. Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Nevada. All zero state income tax and booming. Kentucky... not so much.

Correlation does not equal causation.

And most millionaire money isn’t going back into the economy.

Sports or not I’d be beyond pissed if I lived in one of those states and watched these kids get free money while i was taxed into poverty

I've probably been to 300 UK basketball and football games in my life and crap like this is why I don't care anymore if another college athletic event is ever contested. Much less who wins.

It’s already a law in Arkansas and Tennessee doesn’t have state income taxes for anybody. No sense in being behind your neighbors if you want to be competitive.
True that Celtic but I’ll tell you what, Tennessee takes your money in other ways. Consumption tax is a bich in Tennessee. Buying a gallon of milk in Tennessee, it’s easier and cheaper to buy some crack rocks. Tennessee gas stations are crazy high, tobacco is crazy high, rent and business cost are through the roof all past to the customer. Beer high, everything is high. Tennessee day to day is just so expensive. It’s too expensive.

Are you trying to say that there is a “rocky top rip off” going on? ;)

When I moved to Kentucky people started yellin in Kroger. causing milk lines because I stare at 2 dollar a gallon milk with my mind blown. I still leave in a hurry with 3 gallons just knowing they’re gonna stop me.

by the time I get home the feeling of accomplishment is overwhelming.

Not happening. Kentuckians love taxes and is a tax burden state. That is one reason many Kentuckians leave. There are others of course but taxes were the main reason I left after graduation.

Man when I first left Tennessee I thought prices were wrong. You go into a gas station anywhere in west Tennessee and it’s crazy the differences. Plus Tennessee is near 10% tax on everything. Tennessee is super high. Nashville and surrounding areas are about unlivable now for regular people. Unless you sacrifice a lot.

This. Imagine being so upset about the government taking too much of your money in taxes you want the government to take more money from others in the false belief the government will take less from you. The government takes too much from most as is.

Part of the issue is the media skews reporting when talking about taxing the wealthiest. For example this article where the media rile people up about billionaire tax rates but the analysis is on 400 INDIVIDUALS. 400! Those 400 have tremendous capital gains which is taxed at a lower rate for everyone.

The truth on income taxes is as summarized in an article is the tax rate is nearly 2x higher on the 1% vs average.

In reality, tax liability is split along steep income lines. The top 1% of earners paid an eye-popping $561,523 on average, while the bottom 50% paid just $822.

And the disparity doesn’t stop at dollar figures. When it comes to tax rates, the difference is even more striking. According to the IRS’s Statistical Tables by Tax Percentile, the average effective federal income tax rate for all Americans stood at 14.5%, but for the top 1%, it was 26.1% – seven times higher than the 3.7% rate paid by the bottom half of earners.

But it doesn’t divide the citizenry if we realize it’s not a revenue problem but a spending problem.

And yes earned income by college athletes should be treated the same as earned income from non-athletes.

As someone who works in an industry who sees an insane amount of taxes, Kentucky is one of the best at hiding ******** taxes that no other state has. Most people don’t know how much it cost just to get a semi legal on the road at both the federal and state level living here. It’s insane.

Kentucky should follow suit like Tennessee and end the state income tax. But this state blows more money on the dumbest stuff to ever let that happen. They’re probably earmarking payments they’re due to receive in 2935. Let’s go worry about failing pension funds instead though.
