Richie says he's not an instant starter. Idk how he's not.
It is a pretty crowded LB room now....with Moses Walker and Abram Wright (starters returning from injuries), Transfers Ty Morris and Sean Allison, second year prospects DJ McClary, Kamar Archie, MJ Johnson, and Isaiah Deloatch, and true freshmen Tanner Raymond and Joey Kopec.
It should be an interesting Spring.

Both Allison and Munn seem like good gets. Would have still liked to see some more portal help on the defensive front, but not sure that's in the cards at this point. Cautiously optimistic the new D staff will get more out of the line anyway.

Ummm.- a healthy Walker and Wright start way before him. Also the transfer Ty Morris is a much higher rated LB than him. Add in the the 4 star recruits DJ McClary and Archie at LB also have potential for significant playing time. This new addition is strictly for a back up and he will get some time.

Have not seen this guy play at all.

Richie does a nice job as podcaster, but his talent evaluation in multiple instances (most recently repeating without equivocation that Tariq Francis was not talented enough to play in the B210 and was here only as a B Knight favor) shows that citing or looking to him for any talent analysis is not worthwhile. Leave the sources say or news item stories to him. Let the talent evaluation lie elsewhere

How? He was an fcs all American. Walker and wright have shown nothing.

2nd Team All American FCS is certainly good. ( playing Upper Iowa, Valparaiso and Winning big.. while playing and getting destroyed vs. South Dakota and South Dakota State}.
Playing LB in the B1G is a whole different level. We shall see. The Spring game will show alot.

Neither Walker nor Wright have been abler to stay healthy, both have missed multiple games & both ended last season out injured. We have no idea if either are now healthy nor what those injuries have done to their lateral speed or quickness.

That’s what they said about Mo last year at this same time and look at the season he just had at Miami. Not saying Walker or Wright is anywhere near the same LB caliber as Mo but hopefully they can recover from their injuries and contribute.

Just because Mo was able to return to full strength after 2 ACL surgeries does not have any correlation to Wright having 2 ACL surgeries or Walker, injuries to the knee can be very different in every case, so it is to be determined how & if they both return to previous form. The fact that RU brought in 2 line backers from the portal is an indication that there might be a problem.

Agree
2 LBs . One from a solid FCS program (a strong player} and one from Rice ( ranked #112 in LB recruits in the Portal) who hopefully plays above his rating. There were numerous P4 good players at LB who transferred… even Northwestern got the 6th ranked LB in the Portal and Purdue got the 27th ranked. Was thinking we could have done better.

You can do better if you have more money to try for a higher rated player, but that doesn't guarantee anything
