As nice as it would be to earn a 2 seed, if we're just strictly thinking big picture matchups, it would be better for us to be that last 3 seed in order to get into Texas' region.

They are the least daunting of the potential 1 seeds, however, there is zero path outside of winning the BTT for us to get that top 2 seed to end up in Texas' bracket.

More than likely, we will be in South Carolina's region, or also UConn if a few other teams ahead of us finish strong in their CT.

They won't put Iowa and UCLA in the same bracket 1-2.
Would they do the same for Vandy though, not putting them in with Texas?

If we go “par” and lose to UCLA in the title game, I could see us getting the 2 opposite Texas.

Dangerous thing though is the potential matchup with Michigan. If Michigan wins, recency bias is almost certainly going to push them ahead of us, and that could force us into UConn’s bracket as the last 2 or best 3.

In the bracket the committee put out today they have Iowa as the 2 seed in Texas' region.

I don't think the women's committee seeds the bracket the same way (or in any identifiable way) as the men's. In theory the top overall seed should get paired with the "worst" 2 seed but if there is a more compelling matchup/history they'll do that instead. And still f it up.

Yeah, Possible marquee TV matchups take precedent over following traditional seed lines.

Let's see how this post ages.

I love this Iowa Women's team, but they will drop at least 3 more games this season before the tournament and the question of a top 16 seed will likely be a toss up.

Hope they can hang on to play at Carver. Not real optimistic.
Lmao idiot

It's because they can't put #2 Vanderbilt in the same bracket as #1 Texas, so Iowa got switched with Vanderbilt.

Actually, Vanderbilt got shifted down two spots into UCLA's region to avoid Texas and South Carolina. And with all the shuffling around to also keep Iowa and Michigan away from UCLA, LSU ends up with UConn, and I'm all for it :)

I bet everybody in the top 8 teams are happy except LSU.

Vandy getting blown out by Ole Miss... not sure if that would drop them off a 2 seed.

Hawks are way ahead of where I thought they'd be. Ava and Taylor have made huge jumps this year. Hannah is so consistently good. Kylie's defense is so critical. No way did I expect Chit-Chat would be a critical piece offensively. 25 - 5 at this point, hope they keep it rolling.

Ava and Stremlow aren't just leading with their play. They exude the kind of fire and emotional intensity that is infectious on the court. They fire up everyone.

Back to the good old days of women's basketball. 1s will walk through the tournament. Lots of chalk this year.
This is why the CC era will end up deserving even more praise and credit than it got, because they at least tried to shake up the status quo......and the powers that be got scared and pushed back to make sure the sport of women's basketball went back to the way things were.

Btw, after getting blown out by UCLA, here's where Charlie Creme has us seeded:

(1 South Carolina- Sacramento region)

6 Alabama vs 11 Nebraska/Richmond
3 TCU vs 14 Idaho

7 Oregon vs 10 South Dakota State
2 Iowa vs 15 Western Illinois

I mean.....yes please.
