Al Michaels did college football in late 70's and early 80's. He called the 1979 NU - Penn St game.
I stand corrected.Regardless he is known more for NFL games compared to college football games.

Mine:
#1 Keith Jackson
#2 Lindsey Nelson
#3 Verne Lundquist
#4 Curt Gowdy
#5 Chris Schenkel
#6 Brad Nessler
#7 Sean McDonough
#8 Jim Simpson
#9 Bill Flemming
#10 Chris Fowler
That list of 1 thru 5 is the Tier 1 Hall of Famers. But there’s Keith Jackson, and then all the rest.

I would list #2 thru #5 little differently maybe but they were all so good for so long, they could all be tied for #2.

#1 Keith Jackson

#2 Chris Schenkel
#3 Curt Gowdy
#4 Lindsey Nelson
#5 Vern Lundquist

Oh yeah, Kevin Harlan. Like him too. “It’s a flamethrower!” I liked Fowler as a Gameday studio host with Corso and Craig James. Hate him broadcasting a game. Too smug. Same reason I can’t stand Joe Buck.

Lindsey Nelson was much better than Criqui.

Quite a few of you younger pups probably never heard of him.
Not every old memory is a good one. I remember Lindsey Nelson, I just didn't like him.

Watching Lindsey Nelson and Paul Hornung call a Notre Dame game was like getting waterboarded for 3 hours.

Any Notre Dame game those two called was pure torture. Although Hornung was the main problem, I didn't care for Nelson either.
I hate ND as much as tejas, but he was a classic voice for college football doing all those Cotton bowls and watching ND football on Sunday morning just being able to see college football which we didn’t have like the opportunity we to this day.

It took the 1970 National title game before I disposed ND.

If you like Lindsey Nelson, go ahead and like Lindsey Nelson - I don't care.

You're the one insisting that he MUST be on everyone's list, and I'm just breaking the news to you that he's not.

Maybe Lindsey Nelson was better known as one of the original trio of Met's broadcasters along with Bob Murphy and Ralph Kiner.
