Was that a Foul at the End?

It was a foul, but only because the PSU kid smartly initiated the contact.

He saw that Howard had slipped/lost his balance so he drove at him and tripped himself over Isaia's body as he was falling to the floor.

If the PSU kid had started to drive, but for whatever reason held himself up from trying to go through/over Howard - or trying to go around him - small chance there's no call.

You wanna see a blown call, rewatch the end of the Seton Hall-UConn game. UConn up by three with a couple fouls to give.

They foul Seton Hall with 16 seconds to go, SH ball out on the sideline.

SH throws the ball in again and as the UConn guard attempts to foul again, the SH player throws a “shot” toward the basket. No foul called and the ball flies out of bounds. UConn ball. The replay shows a definite foul, but the refs insured a UConn win.

At first when the PSU guy took 4 steps…I was hoping for a travel….but yeah, our players looked liked the keystone cops on that play and the foul was the right call…👮‍♂️

I was at the game so couldn’t really see, was that last play a foul on Iowa?
It was traveling, which would have been a great call since it would have sent the game to OT where, maybe, the refs could have let the teams decide it. But Iowa never should have been in a position to let a call beat them. Never.

When Stirtz scored to tie it, I told my wife he made his move four or five seconds too soon. I said PSU will either win it with another three, or the refs will call a foul on Iowa. Either way, it's over.

And so it was. Iowa couldn't have played worse if they had been throwing the game. They deserved to lose. There's no arguing that.

It looked like Iowa may have clipped the foot of the PSU guy setting the ghost screen, which may have caused him to lose his balance.

Howard and Reed trip on each other as Reed runs through the lane and Howard falls in front of PSU player to commit the foul.

Whether the Penn St. player was accidently tripped or not, any referee would call that 100% of the time, now in my opinion, the refereeing was not even close to being called equally, a lot of missed calls not called on Penn St. and I will stand by my opinion. The referees favored Penn St the whole game.

The worst was when Reed swiped Stirz’s arm then it went off his foot for a turnover….the replay clearly showed it was a foul and Reed knew he got away with murder. It was at a critical point in the game as well…🥲

Its crazy the amount of abuse that Stirtz takes and doesn't get the benefit of "star power" from the refs.

Lost count of the times he's been absolutely hammered on layup attempts and nothing even considered being called.

Are you implying the refs didn't make the call so UCONN could win the game?

Are you implying the refs intentionally and unfairly favored PSU on calls?

Please stop with was that a foul or not. Iowa should never been in that position that a last call should have determined the outcome. We were better than them but they outplayed us period. There was a lot of motivation for Iowa to play hard , so we lost that 2nd bye in the B10 tournament has all been kissed away. If you want blame anyone blame the coaching staff.

Combs should have overplayed the driver on his right.
He beat combs off the bounce.
Howard got tangled with Reed, both tripped.
Howard probably cuts off driver if he didn't lose balance , but he ended up screening combs as he fell.
It all goes back to our inability to stay in front of guys on straight-line drives.
Bennett chose a bad time to have a rare tough game. His missed layup, missed 3 pter and turnover in last minutes killed us

Yeah, no question. Unless they changed the rules to allow falling into someone's path and taking their feet out from under them. But as stated, never should have even come down to this.
