It’s a limited roster with a low ceiling and low margin for error. You can play around with the puzzle pieces but this is what you got.

Looking at all the teams and likely scenarios, I think Iowa is locked in as a 9-10 seed. Although again it’s a really weak bunch of resumes.

Only chance Iowa has a prayer of sneaking into the 2nd weekend of the Dance is for the SC to take pity on them & slot them into a non-Dayton 11-seed.

At the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter

Whether they’re in or out, they’re not going anywhere

For me, it’s about getting excitement back into this program

And today was a huge step back
Yep. Today really took a big wet bite out of my enthusiasm level. That's two horrific losses now to cellar dwellers. That's Alford-era level stuff right there. Apathy creeping back in, here.

I get it. But it’s also a bit irrational and unrealistic. Gotta view this season as buying a stock of a company at its low with new management and starting to see some dividends even though it’s bumpy early.

A deflating, season defining loss that just spoils everything that came before. Just have your name called on selection sunday and whatever happens after doesn't matter. Tired of watching a team who I know is better than bums like Maryland and Ped State lose in embarrassing fashion. I have better ways to spend my time on the weekends.

It’s not iffy. Horrible loss yes. But you can’t view these things in a vacuum. Had a horrible loss at Maryland. Didn’t affect seeding that much. It’s all relative and comparative at this point.
As of right now, yes, we are in and not iffy. However, IF we lose the next two (very likely) and then lose first game in BTT? Yeah...I'll be sweating. I think we'd still be in but bid stealers would start to worry me a bit.

Irrational and unrealistic after losing to two of the worst teams in the conference?

I get what you're saying and I'll give the man a fair chance, but I've seen this movie before. Many, many times. It's gonna be hard for me to get very excited until something changes. Losses like today are so "Iowa".

I’m assuming Iowa doesn’t win again.

I follow this stuff too closely and have for years. I can’t see Iowa falling below 38 under any circumstances. That places them in 9-10 range with plenty of room for bid stealers. Which there are never more than 1-2.

You’ve seen this movie before with a 1st year Iowa head coach?

The ncaa tournament is iffy at this point. This was a horrible loss that didn’t surprise me one bit.
Let's just go ahead and assume they won't make the tournament. It'll be easier for all those fans then who will be surprised as f*** to see Iowa's name called on Selection Sunday........

I think Dayton if they lose out. Win 1 BTT game probably 9 seed. Definitely cooked for anything better than 8/9 unless they beat Michigan or Nebraska and don't see that happening.

Winning a game in the BTT doesn't do anything, because of how the committee treats the CTs.

Like I said, there's no point in arguing with people who don't understand how this thing works anymore, so you all just need to f***ing start assuming we won't make the tournament, so that you can actually have something to be pleasantly surprised about when we do get in. 🙂

You just kind of proved my point I think they are in too regardless.

This just doesn’t add up logically. They don’t have that wide a range at this point. No team does. They won’t fall to an 11 seed. I’m not sure losing out automatically drops them to a 10. Just not enough teams to slot ahead of them realistically.

Still in the tournament so doesn't matter. You have them baked into 9 seed it appears. Definitely strong possibility.
Okay fine. They can, and probably will, reach the 10 if they lose out.

The only way we fall to the 11 is if there's just a crazy run of upsets in all the conference tourneys, including the power conferences.

You are probably right I'm just saying IMO at worst they in Dayton if they lose out aka they in no matter what.

I listed the teams seeded 6-10 on Lunardi's latest bracketology in, I think it was, Fran's bracketology thread.

There's teams that can move up or down a seed line if they get hot or cold.

Iowa will be coming in ice cold.
