Today’s was a horrible loss. Not a “bad” loss….a horrible loss. Iowa made Penn State look like a Top 20 team today. I believe Fran was the honorary defensive coach today.
Wow!
It was an awful loss but to say coach will be gone after 3 years (see Lickliter) is just a dumb take off one loss.

You literally have a coach take over a program with one player from year before.

I am beyond pissed but these takes are dumb. This team doesn't have what we need to be elite but it sure as heck should never lose a game like that.
There you said it better than me. Poor coaching by Ben today but he will have his moments on the negative side as well. Penn State just delivered the ball back to his side of the court. Go back to the drawing board Ben and figure some things out.

Recruits are gullible, very easily impressionable, little f*** sticks, especially the highest rated ones. They will find it very easy to turn down Iowa even if we offer them all the money and women in the world.

You smartly touched on the key going forward. The recruiting really matters where things go from here. A disappointing end to an overall good season won't do much to move the needle ahead.

I’d be fine if the university went all in on the women’s program and took some of the men’s NIL money

There’s no way Iowa is going to be able to compete in this league anyway
Eff that, cut the wrestling program in its entirety. It's dying on the men's side with less than, what, 80 programs? and we are falling further behind anyway.

Some need to be sent an invitation to the Portal.

It will all come down to recruiting. He's going to have to get Big Ten level talent in spots 1-8 in the lineup and a couple standouts that are 85% Stirtz level.

I expect a dip next season, and not making the tourney, but year 3 needs to be at least as good as this year or the program might be in trouble.

His style of play lends itself to being able to compete when you have less talent but it can't be a huge talent discrepancy

Can you say you are excited for next season? Iowa had 3 BAD losses this season and that’s with Stirtz. Who is taking over for him next season? This offense even with him is slow.
As of right now, next year looks pretty dismal on paper, but there's an off-season to see what personnel can be brought in, so we'll see how things are looking in a few months.

I NEVER said THAT!
I just said it was a horrible loss. It’s one that gonna bite them in the butt, I fear.

I’m not throwing in the towel but I don’t see good things happening. Ben may be a good coach but NIL is king and Iowa isn’t strong there. If Stirtz wasn’t here Iowa would be a NIT bubble team.

This team is piss on the road. Dark yellow piss. If you can’t win on the road in the big ten against BAD teams you are in trouble.

Folgers had back to back turnovers and a rushed three that really hurt the hawks when they gained momentum in the second half. Not sure why Hausen got Tate Sage’s minutes the second half, but I think we’ve probably seen the last of Hausen.

They’ll have better pieces, role players, next year, with a full off season and a full year of BIG under their belt; but will obviously need to replace the centerpiece of Stirtz. As good as Stirtz is, he was still just a D2 second team all conference player less than 24 months ago. Meaning I think they can get a high quality pg out of the portal and still get solid production.

I try not to think about next year yet, but yes it could be a step back
