The very least you could have done is to state his name correctly. And with the #1 pick in the NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers choose……Ryan Leak

With that said I'm at a loss as to what the point of your post is, in relation to SMU.
Because she has never had any interest in donating to athletics. It's not a question really, even when she wasn't on the out, she didn't donate to the athletics department.Darla herself earned a Bachelor's Degree in political science from USC and no degree from UPC. Why would she be disinclined to contribute to her alma mater's athletics beyond becoming alientated?
I suppose a total of $70 million is enough to ask of any person. It's fortunate that USC waited as long as they did to p!$$ her off - because they really p!$$ed her off, with finality. Your point about her being disinclined to donate to athletics is well taken.Because she has never had any interest in donating to athletics. It's not a question really, even when she wasn't on the out, she didn't donate to the athletics department.
Only if there were sustainability potential. Right now, we have it in WBB, which enjoys better notoriety now than baseball. We had sustainability in baseball, but we lost it utterly.Big money doesn't follow WBB or baseball. I'd guess 95+% of South Carolina fans and alumni would trade every national championship in WBB or baseball, past and future, for a national championship in football.
They might even buy a marching band.Wofford could be national champions in 2 years!![]()
There was talk of “Mr Beast “ donating 100million to ECU to try and buy them a NC.Dont think it has happened as of yet but with the right money who knows.Wofford could be national champions in 2 years!![]()
You would think that. Yet I recently saw a video of a booster trying hard to squeeze NIL money out of their rank and file fans, because, according to him, Arkansas ain't keeping up. So far, there's no evidence to the contrary. There was talk of “Mr Beast “ donating 100million to ECU to try and buy them a NC.Dont think it has happened as of yet but with the right money who knows.
Arkansas is a real danger in the SEC.They have Billionaires as in Jerry Jones who would love to buy Ark a NC.Also the Walton family ,The Stephens family and Tyson. No shortage of money there.
They probably have a second collection every Sunday for NIL.Is New Spring church still laundering money for clemson?
Ah, the good ol' days when recruits would post pictures of themselves holding up bundles of cash or their new cars.Taters were modeling NIL before it was a thing
Arkansas is generally very good in all sports outside of football. If money alone can buy a NC in football, Arkansas has alumni and fans with deep enough pockets to do it. I think one of their biggest challenges is that they are located next door to the HUGE money Texas and Oklahoma schools and have to recruit against them for talent in the area. There was talk of “Mr Beast “ donating 100million to ECU to try and buy them a NC.Dont think it has happened as of yet but with the right money who knows.

That's good input.Maybe the term sleeping giant is overused if we’re applying it to SMU.
I’m from Texas.
I'd say 40% max.Big money doesn't follow WBB or baseball. I'd guess 95+% of South Carolina fans and alumni would trade every national championship in WBB or baseball, past and future, for a national championship in football.

Darla is a Clemson fan. Her dad captained the football team. She ain’t giving money to our athletic program!!!
True. But we could roll up at house on a daily basis, now down and thank her for the contributions, and she ain’t EVER giving money to our athletic department. She may be a Clemson fan, but she has donated $75 million to us and $10 million to Clemson. The USC Board's lack of acknowledging Darla's mom's passing was total incompetence on their part.
Her contributions to the Business School, etc. can free up other $$$ for athletics.True. But we could roll up at house on a daily basis, now down and thank her for the contributions, and she ain’t EVER giving money to our athletic department.
I don't think that is the way the university looks at money. If I give a million to the business school, they don't cut the business school's previous budget by a million so they can spend more on the education school. They make sure the new million finds a home in the business school in addition to the current budget. Her contributions to the Business School, etc. can free up other $$$ for athletics.

So your point is Darla is giving indirectly to our athletic department? OK
Point well taken. What about future budgets?I don't think that is the way the university looks at money. If I give a million to the business school, they don't cut the business school's previous budget by a million so they can spend more on the education school. Again, universities don't take money away from a school or department and move it to athletics because there is suddenly "freed up" money floating around with no home. All dollars find a home and generally stay at that home. If athletics wants more money, they have to go out and get some "new" money.Point well taken. What about future budgets?
Geographically desolate location near the Ozarks. (the meth capital of the country)You would think that. Yet I recently saw a video of a booster trying hard to squeeze NIL money out of their rank and file fans, because, according to him, Arkansas ain't keeping up. Makes sense as parts of Missouri were considered "meth country" long before "Breaking Bad."Geographically desolate location near the Ozarks. (the meth capital of the country)

Close enough for the spillover. I mean why wouldn't your market be a major college city just down the road? And here I thought that was either Pelion or Gaston.
How close are they to the Ozarks? Maybe there's some overlap/suburbs confusion going on here.
