From my understanding he lives in Lincolnton School district but he used his one free transfer to go to North Lincoln. So in theory the county saying he doesn't have the ability to transfer anymore. Whether true or not I don't know
Hey, maybe Lincolnton could use your catch-phrase when someone goes from one team over to Maiden: ā€œHe didn’t transfer, he moved inā€ā€¦Well, yes, in this case he moved in, but actually, he never moved out.

LOL, a bit of a quandary, don’t you think…Seems to me, if he transferred to North, but then transferred to Lincolnton, the transfer wouldn’t be a transfer at all, since he lives here; and we all know this certain poster whose screen name rhymes with amaidenlevel, and appears to believe that if a player ā€œmoves inā€, then he is in the clear.

Oh, and besides that, if anyone asks why he ā€œmoved inā€, we could use another one of your specialties and say, ā€œWell, he moved here because it’s a nice community.ā€

You know, maybe we should just ask the Ref about this.

I will say we are dealing with an issue right now where the kid lives in our district and has lived here since he has been in high school but has went to a charter school. He recently transferred to Cramer and now his Charter School is trying to block him saying that he left do to athletic reasons. Our county is trying to figure out how to deal with it. It is the craziest thing ever.

Thinking that Catawba County has a similar rule about transferring for athletic reasons, but not sure.
Congrats on the win over Ashe County, and good luck against the Lexington Yellow Jackets.

The whole thing about him living in our district is the crazy thing.

Thanks, that was just our 2nd ever men’s basketball playoff win in school history. Good luck with you guys the rest of the playoffs. I thought you guys had the best team in our conference.

I agree, seems like the smaller counties are more stringent. The larger counties are more lax.
Smaller counties still have more traditional community buy in. Families that went to the school or have lived in the community forever. In Charlotte, the family may have never moved and they’ve been redistricted 3 times by the time their kids come through.

Yeah it's been said brad baker for weeks but still waiting on an official announcement. And he's listed as NL head coach on a Carolina prep link for North Lincoln.

Yeah, right, I can just see our friendly neighbors to the west, waving to the kindly Lincolnton sorts…Listen, they might be making hand gestures to us but it won’t be waving.

One silver lining about our boys losing a heartbreaker on Tuesday is that we get to go watch the girls today at 1:00 and watch history. Oshuana Holland is 29 points away from becoming the all time leading scorer in the history of NC Women’s High School Basketball.
She broke it at the end of the third quarter. Props to the Fred T Foard fans, very classy with a lot of them giving her a standing ovation as well.

Don't want to pretend as though I'm a follower of our school's basketball team the same way as football, but I certainly pull for them and try to keep a check on scores and standings, and like other local athletes I thank them for all they do and wish them the very best.

With that said, just wanted to congratulate our Wolves on making it to the 3rd round as the number 8 seed; and an even bigger congratulations on their win this against the #1East Rutherford Cavaliers 76-64. Way to go y'all.

Frankly, it would be nice if they could be taken out for a post game meal. They deserve it.
Don't have any suggestions about where to take them, but there are lots of good places in Lincolnton.

Maybe we should ask the Ref.:

Congratulations to the Wolves, and I will say it again, I thought you guys were the best team in the conference eventhough you didn’t win the regular season or tournament. Knew if you could put it all together you could make a run.

StormSurge, thanks for saying something about the Wolves. Glad they’re doing well. Tomorrow, Lincolnton goes to East Surry. Was asking my neighbor where East Surry is located. He said it was in England. He’s is old like me. Actually, the Surry County teams I remember us playing were really tough. Go Wolves.

By the way, what’s with this Ultra high-powered ladies team out of Cramerton? Heard that after they play someone the opposing teams and their fans just sort of sit there stunned. Saw where they play Pisgah, tomorrow. Good luck to SC, but considering the scores, they don’t need any luck. WOW!

I like your chances tomorrow. Was really impressed with the Guyton kid on your team. He is fun to watch. Really good high school player. Extremely tough kid to guard….i got some inside knowledge on that šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ā€¦.

Yeah, our girls team is tough. Lost in the state championship game last year, so hopefully they can cap it off with a championship this year. However Pisgah, Hibriton, and Maiden are all really good too. Should be an exciting week for the young ladies.

The best high school basketball game I’ve seen was a ladies game between Fred T. Foard, and Smokey Mountain. It was at the Western regionals in Hickory in 1992.

I’d got to the gym early to get a good seat which I did, but I remember how quickly the stands filled up. Could tell something was wrong because the garb that people were wearing wasn’t from either of the schools I wanted to see play… Before long, It was shoulder to shoulder so I ask the person sitting beside of me who was about to play? That’s when he told me, Fred T. Foard and Smoky Mountain. Couldn’t believe so many people would come to watch a girls basketball game.

Thought to myself, how am I gonna sit through this? I don’t wanna see them play. I wanna see a game with some action and a game that’s faster… Anyway, after the first minute or so, I came to realize why so many people were there… That was the hardest fought game I have ever seen in high school basketball hands-down, no question about it… On the opening tip-off the ball went out of bounds, and I remember both teams coming after it and slamming in to the stands. The game had to be stopped several times for cuts and scratches.

ā€˜Foard, won by a point then would go on to win the title, I believe against High Point Central. After the game was over the ladies appeared to be completely exhausted, and it looked like someone had poured a bucket of water on their heads.

RS Central and West Henderson, played directly afterwards, and their game seemed dull in comparison to the game I had just seen. Ever since then I’ve had a sincere respect for ladies basketball. :)

PostScript: Not really sure on this but I’m thinking Brian Brown, the son of long-time Maiden Coach Tom Brown, coached this particular Foard team.

Oh, one other thing the Smoky Mountain team was undefeated coming into that match. Foard, had lost 1 game.

That Foard team had a guard who was like Steph Curry. I believe she went to NC State. She was automatic from deep and worth the price of admission.

Yeah, LHSfaninVA, Since it wasn’t a Lincolnton team I can’t recall many of the names and the ones I do recall I might be confusing with some other teams from way on back.

Just going off memory but I’m thinking one of the Foard players on the 1992 team that was really good was Teague. For some reason I maybe confusing her name with a legion baseball pitcher from back in the early 80ā€˜s named Teague who played for Caldwell County Post 29…Seems like there was a Johnson on that FTF team, too.

Pretty sure there was a player whose last name was Maney that was really good, but believe she was the center or forward for Smokey Mountain.

I slept a little too much last night, can’t collect my thoughts, LOL. Maybe a cup 0f Jello would straighten me out.;)

Newton Conover won 2a as well in ā€˜92.

Their only loss was to Foard. šŸ‘€

Didn’t realize Maiden’s ladies team was undefeated until I saw it on MaxPreps. Then I saw where Cramer, Hibriten and Pisgah had only one loss each. Didn’t realize there were so many good teams around this area.

Maiden lost to North Lincoln but north had to forfeit.

If I had to guess, I would say it's going be Maiden vs SC at LR this week. SC has the all time leader in points I believe
She averages 34 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 7.4 steals a game. Of course they were missing our second leading scorer and she fouled out with 5 mins to go when they had their only loss by 1 point this year. They can be beat, but in 4 years I have never seen anyone shut her down other than her.

We’re going to have our hands full. We definitely haven’t seen anyone like her this year. Our girls did not shoot well at all in our last game so hopefully that’s behind us. I’ll be interested to see how we try to defend her with how we’re made up which is depth, grit, and complete team ball.

She is a handful, but you guys have a great program and team, should be a great game. Can’t get up there today but will be watching. Good luck, will be fun to see how it shakes out.

Jennifer (Howard) Woglemuth was that point guard. She went on to play at N.C. State and currently is an assistant coach for the Lady Tigers of Fred T. Foard.

I guess I won’t be watching it. Pisgah doesn’t show games on NFHS.
