And we thought the fall under Lemonis was bad.

They’ve never been the same since Ray Tanner stepped down to become AD (which he wasn’t very good at according to most of their fans).

Tanners’s last three years: national title, national title, national runner-up.

In the 13 years since: zero trips to Omaha, seventeen games below .500 in league play.

Everyone was so distracted by Missouri going 3-27 last year that 6-24 South Carolina did not get nearly the attention they deserved. The worst of the Lemonis era still finished several games better than 6-24.

And they actually had a pretty decent portal haul I think

Amazing the difference a coach can really make. I think the same may happen with Tennessee.

You really have to have solid support to be able to have the continuity when you lose an elite coach.

And this is what you see with schools like Mississippi State, Texas and LSU. Some coaches may be better than others, but pretty much anyone can win there. That's not necessarily true at other schools. It will be interesting to see what happens at Mississippi when Bianco finally retires.

The baseball coach became the AD and it didn’t go great? Well, I never…

It actually went a lot worse than ours did. A lot worse.

Tanner decided to turn South Carolina into UConn South and prioritize women’s hoops at the expense of other sports. I think you can argue UConn did it better actually, because their men’s hoops and baseball (and other Olympic sports) have remained pretty dang good over the years. South Carolina has been largely irrelevant in all of the major men’s sports for the better part of the last 10-15 years).

Dawn Staley is one of the most vile people in America. The science says the baseball team must become a loser.

Lemonis to South Carolina
He would be an improvement over Mainieri, but otherwise I don't think he'd win big there. Enough to keep his job for a few years and then they'd be back on coaching carousel that they've been riding since Tanner retired. He'd do just enough to last a few years like Chad Holbrook and Mark Kingston.

As bad as ex-natty winner Maneri has been no way they hire Lemonis.

I think Lemonis will be coaching at Citadel one day.

They have a really nice stadium at USC. It is a shame to fall off like that.

The Citadel has a relatively new coach who has been better than Skole, their previous coach. Plus Russ Triplett, the current Citadel coach, led them to their first 30 win season in quite a while last year in his first year. As far as Lemonis goes I think he ends up at a mid major in SC, but unless Triplett at the Citadel leaves on his own. Lemonis won't be getting that job anytime soon.

Mullenz to the Citadel.
