Hawks seem to be pretty much locked into the 8-seed in the BTT.

So that gives them a decent chance to win the early game on Thursday, but their Friday matchup will be Michigan. 😬

Only real possible way Hawks can jump up to the 7 is Iowa winning Saturday & @ NEB next weekend along with UCLA going 1-2 in their last 3 - or - Hawks finishing 1-2 and UCLA loses all of last 3. (@ MIN, vs NEB and @ USC)

ONLY way to reach the 6-seed is Iowa winning out and Wisconsin losing out - as well as UCLA going 1-2 or 0-3. So, this would take a miracle because Wisconsin's 2nd to last game is hosting Maryland. @ WASH and @ Purdue are their other games.

Hey, we are a "trap game" for Michigan, as they are @ ILL this weekend and host MSU to finish their regular season. So we got that going for us. 🤷‍♂️

Baylor just took #2 Arizona down to the wire in Waco. Anything can happen.

With IU loss to NW they pretty much eliminated themselves at 8-9 and only they or OSU can technically pass us. OSU plays Purdue this weekend so a loss by them and W at psu combined with head to head win would lock us in at 8 minimum. I think beginning of year no one would be complaining for finishing there.

too lazy to look now but always fun to see the preseason predictions and end results. I think big one would be to see how low most had Nebraska at.

This will likely be the bracket (assuming Iowa wins at Penn State, with losses to Michigan & at Nebbie).

Traveling out west is tough. Wisconsin already got beat by Oregon and I would not be surprised if Washington beats them as well.

Solid season. Exceeded what most of us expected if not quite reaching what some of us dreamed. To be fair to Fran, MAYBE he gets us to this same conference standing this year. This feels like the floor for McCollum though.
Get to the 2nd weekend this year and the legend continues. Better days ahead regardless.
IDK. Still lose Freeman and Dix, probably Sandfort.

I think it would have been a pretty tough year for Fran.

Win one game in BTT. I'd rather they get the rest before the NCAA. Winning or going deep in the BT doesn't seem to budge the needle or seeding in NCAA.

I think going deep in the BT, which would at least include a win over Michigan would have a big impact on the NCAA seed. Even if we’d go only go from 8/9 to 7 would be a major benefit. I’d rather have that instead of an extra day off and then having to go through a 1 seed (versus a 2) to get out of the first weekend.

Welp. BTT and NCAAT - Seems like 8 is our lucky number. Blah. Oh well, I'll be glad just to be back in the dance this year. Still holding out hope of sneaking up to a 7 seed, though, in the NCAAT.
Rest of teams the Hawks are fighting for seeding/location with still have 3/4 regular season games left and whatever they do in their conference tourneys.

Who knows, maybe Iowa and a 7 - or even a 6 - seed isn't totally off the table?

Take care of business in Happy Valley, sweep NEB and get one of the upcoming 2 against Michigan and who knows. Do that and competing teams lose either a 'lot' or suffer a really bad loss or two .................... ??

Oh, yeah, a lot could still happen. I'm not sure how much I like their odds against Michigan, but one of those games is at home at least.. @Nebraska will be a tough task, but they've beaten them once already, so anything could happen! And as you said, other teams have games to play, also. Maybe one or two of them will slip up late..

We're on that 8/7 line right now, IMO. If we just go chalk to finish the season, we're looking at high 8 seed, maybe sneak into the 7 depending on where our NET, other metrics are, and how other teams fare down the stretch.

Going 21-10, 11-9 in the B10 puts us about as close as possible to being a 7 seed. I just wonder how the committee will view our SOS despite our metrics suggesting we should already be a 7 seed (26 in NET for example). Given how the NCAA committee keeps saying and telling us to our faces, anyway, that they don't place as much emphasis on the CTs (as they should), I don't think winning the 8/9 game in the BTT will do anything for us. A win over Michigan, though, guarantees we're a 7 seed and then nothing changes again unless we get to (or win) the BTT championship.

I will do my part and jinx UCLA and Wisconsin by betting on them to win. Just look at how that went last night against Oregon............. 😁

making it to a 7th seed and getting another shot at Illinois is probably the best chance they have.
Michigan or Purdue will clobber them.
Maybe not the best idea, but I'd like to see the Hawks get another shot at Purdue in Chicago - whichever round it would take place in.

Should have beat them at their place. Didn't show and got slobber-knocked at home.

Have 'em toss it up a 3rd time on a neutral court and let's see what happens.

(did not foresee them losing the @ PSU game at the time I created the thread, but in hindsight, really should have) :(
