If they had whistled, I wonder if (after the inevitable replay review) they would have called it a shooting or common foul. DeVries clutched on contact, pulled the ball down and then shot. Thinking back to the call on Barnhizer against Butler a few years ago, I think there is a non-zero chance it could have resulted in a 1 and 1.
Secondly, if they did award three FTs the Cats have a 2/3 win probability. DeVries is very good at the line (86%), but that still means he has about a one in three chance of missing at least one. Assuming OT is 50/50, Cats win 2 of 3 times in that scenario.
i really enjoyed watching last night and am impressed at how much better the team is playing at the defensive end. Beating Indiana, even with a partial assist from the refs, is always great.
