Coach Sexton is good people. Can’t agree that he’s run the program into the ground as he’s been there for a while and has had as much success as Coach Jones had. Sexton is one of the better young coaches in the state. Hard to win in Western Henrico. Between the politics and private schools who take a good chunk of the better kids, Herm and Glen Allen are really all that side of the county has in football. Glen Allen will be a hard job to sell for most. I could see Sexton taking over one of the blue blood programs if a job comes open.
I think you are referring to 2019-2023. IF that is the case. that was Perry Jones. He is now at William & Mary as Running Backs Coach. Before him it would have been Sal Camp who has been at Thomas Dale & LC Bird in recent seasons.
Coach Sexton has nothing but good to me so I'm not speak ill of anyone who treats me with respect. I think the biggest problem at Glen Allen is they got hit hard by graduation following the 2024 season. Last season they had a good run going until injuries started piling up.
QB Ralphie Pucinelli went to Benedictine but most knew that would probably happen given the family's ties to the Benedictine program.
In the moments I've been around Sexton, he coaches his young men that it's them against the world and they buy into it. 2026 will give us a better idea of the direction of the program.
Danny I agree 100%. GA has gotten better as a program every season since COVID. GA isn’t an easy job and I think reason #1 is you have Hermitage literally 4 stop lights away and we know their history as a program. In a world where we see theatrics and youth league junk demonstrated by “coaching staffs”, Coach Sexton is doing it right and is a great leader of his young men.
