I think it's an idiotic idea to take away tailgating spots and replace them with parking garages. Nothing says Southern tailgating like a parking garage.

Ultimately, what businesses occupy the space will dictate whether this is a good idea or not. I imagine it's going to be a bunch of overpriced restaurants and bars, which is fine for sure, but I'm thinking more about how that will go over year round. Who knows.

Its a great idea in theory, but you guys know more about the logistics and whats currently there, been many years for me. Maybe what they'd be tearing down would be a detrimental in the end.

But any time you can create something that will draw fans AND recruits, for all sports.. is a good thing. A night life with bars and restaurants, with a fun and vibrant atmosphere, things to do, is never a bad thing. It was 97% why I chose the college I did lol.

Although you’ll always have people oppose it growth and new options are usually a good thing. I’m sure the people of Lexington and students would take advantage of it for the 359 games a year it doesn’t add traffic to the area.

I love these ideas! I think all that do not have a parking pass will love it!!!! We go to games early and it like you feel left out if you dont have e a spot. Now we will be able to have fun and spend money!!!!!

STL has been building and building and building to offer events away from the field and to take your money and make you forget why you’re there. Busch stadium has become a giant restraint / shopping / drinking district instead of what it’s supposed to be, and half the time people are out walking around shopping instead of watching baseball. And it’s been horrible for the fraschise. Pissed every year I step into it. F all that. This is all a distraction and to keep you coming without the wins.

I’d imagine if we’re rolling and doing really good, it’s going to nearly not even be worth trying to get to a game. Lexington traffic on football football saturdays is already bad. Can’t imagine. Infrastructure isn’t here. We don’t have it.

Heard they are going to put Camelot Central in right next to a Malibu Jack’s in the new entertainment district. Going to be an awesome gameday experience.

These two seem to be enjoying themselves. Probably their anniversary:

Yeah Cincy did something similar around Great American and it’s nice and guess businesses do okay, BUT the difference around baseball parks is there are 81 home games per year. Football there are 7.

Sounds like an exciting idea for game days but not sure how those restaurants etc will survive rather than of the year.

and as others pointed out trading surface tailgating space for parking garages will kill a big section of tailgating that sucks some of the same atmosphere out of the place you are trying to create with the entertainment district.

seems like an idea that they may be trying too hard to force in there.

And that’s a big BUT. I question whether there’ll be enough activity there to make this a wise economic investment. It’ll no doubt be bustling for 7 Saturdays, but what happens the other 358 days of the year?
