Would love to see this team win at least a B1G championship before he kicks it... sadly that's not happening

How many more years do you think he could have coached and kept winning at least 9 games a year?

5-10? I feel like 5 more years for sure.
Closer to 10 IMO. He would adapt to the landscape and adjust accordingly - as he almost always did. I remember in the mid 2000's wish he had stayed after I saw him and his energy level.

He would have went at least another 5. I think he admitted to seriously considering the Houston job a couple years after he retired.

My dad was on a flight with Dr. Osborne in the early 90's. I was 12 years old and was going through some of the difficult things that happen, but can be tough for a young person. Divorce, relocation, loss of friends, being the "new kid", trying to make sense with limited knowledge and experience, etc.

My dad passed a note, letting Dr. Osborne know that he was his Christian hero and requesting if he could write a note of encouragement to me but - if not - no big deal.

Dr. Osborne sent a note back to my dad for me with words of encouragement and a verse of scripture - Matthew 7:7-8. The sentiment was that life will be difficult from time to time, and sometimes all we can do is persevere. Seek, and ye shall find.

It hangs framed in my office to this day. To say that Dr. Osborne is on my short list for the greatest human being that ever lived would be a lie. It's not a list. There's only one name on it.
