Cool concept but info isn't accurate in all cases. It's the same as the NWS amount post listings. This are people out in the field, some might be trained spotters others volunteer. Most have bias one way or the other and they tend to create their own measurements. Your map has two posts in Bala Cynwyd and nearby off of City Ave. The two spots are not even 1/2 mile between each other. One has 10.5 and the other is 14. The 14 is most likely a fraud postI measured 17" in Hamilton at 11am. Some of the snow was light but had areas were it was heavy and the snow blower wasn't throwing it as far. I was out there for 3 plus hours doing it. My side street still hasn't been plowed yet so will have to dig out again once they do it. I had/have drifts on my roof over 30" it seems. I used my snow rake as far as I could reach. Not one other roof in sight has them like mine WTF.
Here is a cool map I found to check your area for snow depth.
I know that, they do timestamp the measurements so that could be an issue. I saw two measurements near me that were very different. When I clicked on both they were taken hours apart from one another.Cool concept but info isn't accurate in all cases. It's the same as the NWS amount post listings. Not if the do it right. In cities like Philadelphia it's a big problem but not in that area. This is probably a tough storm to get accurate measurements on with the wind drifts.
Yes that can be a reason as well but used to be a trained spotter in a town close to NE Philly who was always inches above the other at the final #. She was "replaced" and the new person is now way below three other spotters. Today by a lot.I know that, they do timestamp the measurements so that could be an issue. Most likely wins out...although some of you may have slipped into the almost worst case scenarioBest case scenario 8-12 with spots to 16. Thats a 20% chance
Almost worst case scenario 20-26 with spots to 36. Thats a 20% chance
Biblical crippling case scenario 24-36 with spots to 40. Thats a 10% chance
Most likely scenario: 12-20 with spots to 28. Thats a 50% chance
They reported 16I am thinking about 16-18 in No. Plfd., but there’s a trained spotter in town so let’s see what they report.
What is this non-stick stuff you refer to? I used this:I’ve had that happen in the past when using the lubricants so now I go full bore with the non stick stuff and lather it on anything that touches snow (more important when the snow is wet) …chute, impeller, auger, shovel…and make sure every nook and cranny gets some…since I’ve been doing that I haven’t had too many issues….knock on wood.
Did mine and helped 3 neighbors and luckily no clogging issues during it, just had to refill gas a few times. The end of the drives was the heavy stuff, the driveways themselves weren’t bad.
They made a show about them. A bunch of catty little ***** they are:If anyone ever gets insecure about their lot in life, all they'd need to do is scroll around this forum and get a laugh at the creep little trolls with their high post counts and lack of better things to do...
The fire department ran about 40 plus calls from start of storm through this afternoon.About 16" in South Wall when I measured at noon, but there may have been some settling of the heavy snow by then.

Most likely auger belt is looseFor some reason, my snowblower kept jamming up, and I sprayed the stuff in the chute and in the front, but still kept jamming. It was fine last night. Think the snow was wet near the bottom. But the snow is a lot lighter than last night for shoveling.
I kind of think any lubricant/silicone spray should work but I increased the volume I use now after having the same problems in the past that you had. I spray a lot on and I also wipe it on to the areas which might be hard to get to with the spray. What is this non-stick stuff you refer to? I used this:

That’s potentially an issue too. I’m not mechanically inclined but I’ve had issues where sometimes you might hear a squealing kind of noise when you’re feeding snow into it and that’s the belt. If it’s worn and loose then the auger can’t keep up with what you’re feeding it which I guess can lead to clogs. So you have to change the belt. I’ve had to change belts twice in the life of my blower and because I’m not mechanically inclined it took an hour or so. If you’re good with that kind of stuff it maybe quicker or just service it. I’ll probably have to do that soon for something else that’s beyond my capability. Most likely auger belt is loose
That's what I think, and getting at that is not easy. I do my own engine and power tool maintenance work. Spring project. Most likely auger belt is loose
I checked the SDS sheet of the Ariens stuff:That’s potentially an issue too. Looks like the same stuff. I think @jerzey devil is correct. I could smell a slight burning, and that was likely the belt. I have a Toro. BTW, Dony Boy on YouTube is awesome. He's a Canadian small engine mechanic, and his explanations are very clear and concise:

This is so true. Weather is science and usually in science you want as many data points as you can. The gang up / territorial pissing match is both hilarious and pathetic at the same time. does anyone think these totals don't pass the smell test? Or was there really that dramatic a difference between eastern Bergen and western Bergen.

+1so I got 16 here but on paved surfaces it was more like 14 and was condensing as the day went on. Also didnt notice too much drifting around and with temps in the mid 30s and not alot of peeps on the road, 206 was dry as a bone and many other side roads as well. As far as removal, way easier than last event to shovel. Unpopular take because I know many places got in excess of 2 feet but at least in my backyard I do not think this even breaks top 10 and maybe not even top 15 storms I have experienced which are led by 1996, 1983, 2016, 1993, 1994 ice event, 1978, 2021, 4/1982, relentless parade of 4 significant snows of Feb2010, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2014 and there were far worse snow to rain events that were absolutely horrific for snow removal and sidewalks.
For me, it was not plugging - the snow was sticking to the first stage augers and after a few minutes creating a rotating drum of snow so the output went way down and it would start pushing the snow in front. That's what I think, and getting at that is not easy. I do my own engine and power tool maintenance work. Spring project.
Friends who live in Carlstadt are certain they got at least 2 feet of snow in this one.My dad lives in Carlstadt. He measured 27".
I saw 11.5 for Point Beach. Sure seems like more here.Has to be 16-18 inches in Manasquan. Shoveled once last night. Going out around 8 for Round 2. Internet is out, which it never does.
