Grace is setting a high bar for whomever follows her next season. Her analysis is thorough, thoughtful and based on sound knowledge of the team and the game. Don’t think she could have a better mentor than Tommy either. We’re very fortunate with our baseball duo.
It’s early sure but saw a lot of fly balls to the oppo side in the first eight games. Some got track deep but most didn’t. Saw a lot of rollover ground balls too. The heavy air this time of year bigs up the Bosh quite a bit, but i think 3-4 of our guys need some tuning to their approach. Hull in particular is fouling off some pitches to the off side that I think he could drive into the 7.5 gap and take better advantage of his speed.
Which brings me to something about playing style. If we’re not going to be a real powerful team and look to work counts and draw walks, then I hope we’ll start to use the speed guys to put pressure on opposing pitchers and defenses. We think we have some plus speed on the roster and I’d like to see us use the speed of Shaffner and Hull in particular a little better.
