Beating a zone requires 2 seemingly basic premises:
1. Shooting ability
2. Minimal forethought on the next offensive movement as a team to manipulate the zone.
The defense has a plan - they aren't just following players around and reacting.
The offense in turn needs to operate as a single unit and dictate where they want the defense to go.

Both are seemingly low on the priority list for Pike as a program.

Half the time we set up right where the zone is and don’t even use a player on the foul line vs. a 2-3. We never collapse the zone from the corner, take way too much time to pass the ball, insist on dribbling for no reason allowing the zone to adjust and rarely, if ever, make a skip pass.

Every made basket we should press. Rutgers is not going to beat them in a slow paced, walk the ball up the court, half court defensive game. That’s their style, especially with 6 guys. Try and speed it up, we’re going to lose by 15 at least keeping the game at their pace and style.
They're not smart enough to figure that out. That's why we have to find the money. And the we are getting better b&llsh%t is getting tiresome. We are not. The schedule has gotten easier.

Another weird one. Starting center Ogbole has attempted just 5 shots in past 4 games included zero today and Rutgers won two of those games.

Grant needs to step in front when players drive to the hoop. He’s too afraid to draw fouls.

Pike not having any plan to attack the rim in this game with Francis, Ogbole, and Mark plus pressuring the ball is completely inexusable. A new low for our coach.

Of course we get killed from three. Pike still teaching guys to go under screens rather than fighting over them.

We are always trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Our base lineup is terrible against Minny. Manny, DG both get cooked on threes. Not using Zrno for his 3 point ability. Get some athleticism on the floor and speed them up! Too many rhythm threes for them.

Buchanan always turns it over when he drives hard but then hesitates. We got lucky that one went off of Minny.

This seems like a game that Dortch should be playing more but he’s only been in for three minutes.
