MBB has been such a hot mess I haven’t watched or responded recently. I posted option 3 a while back but not really sure what the best answer is. I guess keeping LP one more year to save up money is the best option. I’ve lost respect for his coaching though and don’t see him turning it around. I’d rather build up cash reserves for the future and be able to pay a higher level coach and get better players. We’ve had good coaches in the past, Fogler, Odom, and Martin to name a few . Upgrade the Coach and the talent. Surely we can do both.

I was curious about how the previous basketball team Lamont Paris coached before leaving for USC has done since his departure. Well, that coach, Dan Earl has a better record over during his 3 seasons, 18-17, 21-12 and then 29-9 winning the NIT, Dan Earl improved year to year with an overall winning percentage of .642. Paris did not manage to improve or maintain as he was up and down over his 4 years there with a .547 winning percentage. Paris also had a losing record in conference play.

I have seen speculative reports that Paris is going to be retained, respectfully I believe this would be a mistake. I believe South Carolina should upgrade at coach and perhaps improve the NIL. I really think any increase in NIL funding for this coach would be an inefficient use of funds, as Paris would not get the best return with increased funding.
