Friends, if I could ask a serious question, really, if anyone wouldnāt mind giving me an answer, and with all sincerity this is not a smart aleck question, but here goes: Growing up, my Mother or Father would fry chicken usually one day a week, mostly on Sunday.
Around 35-40 years ago I began seeing ads, mainly at sports bars then at restaurants about chicken wings. As time went on they became more and more popular. Now, there are even chain restaurants named for their wings.
Here is my question: WHAT IS THE APPEAL OF CHICKEN WINGS? A wing, as I know it is nothing but a few small, flimsy bones with skin stretched over it. There isnāt any meat on it. Itās like a back, itās nothing but skin. The good pieces are thighs, drumsticks and breasts.
Surely, wings that are sold commercially has to mean something else. It canāt mean wings, literally.
It doesnāt matter, but I havenāt tried to eat a chicken wing since I was a child. I admit to being to being a pitiful and disgusting anachronism who is lost in the 21st century, and please know this, I have had every intention of trying restaurant chicken wings but it seems to slip my mind.
So if someone could find a few minutes, please set me straight on what chickens wings are by todayās definition.
