That was a beautiful thing to watch in 2026 when none of these players seem to care. Pair that with the performance & what a great moment for Hubbard.

It just sucks that we’re 13-13. If we’re 18-8 cruising for our 4th straight NCAA appearance, that’s a massive marketing/branding moment. This performance & moment very much reminds me of Anthony Dixon’s 2009 Kentucky performance & post-game interview. Ultimately it was for not since we sat home bowl season. But we were able to use that for momentum going forward. Is that possible here?

I'll ask the question here too. Why didn't we throw the sink at Murphy & Nwoko? Did they just ask too much? If we just retain them, we are a tourney team for sure.

Since rumors are encouraged - Nwoko got $1 million to go to LSU. Probably more than we were willing to pay based on his production last year.

Murphy I think we had the better offer but he didn't turn down his home state team when Auburn has had much better recent success under Bruce Pearl. If he had known Pearl was going to step down he might still be here

Well I think it would've been worth the investment. But it's not my money.

Hard to argue with this, but we could've tried to make it a harder decision.

MBK is one of only two sports that gives the school real national attention. This isn't an opinion, it's fact. Don't start baseball guys, we have a huge thread where your opinion was heard.

So dumping some money into building around Hubbard would have been a prudent investment for the school. It's a shame we wasted that opportunity.

More rumors... KeyShawn was a bad attitude guy since he got here: lazy, hard to deal with, hard to make practice hard, didn't care about defense, etc. Not exactly Jans' favorite kind of player. You'll remember he left the team at some point along the way, but somehow we coaxed him back. He stayed in line and did just enough to satisfy Jans' demands the rest of the way last season, but was ready to jump at another offer. We did put a good one on the table - maybe even better than Auburn's strictly by the numbers - but it was not enough with the semi-bad history between him and the coarch. And of course, he was probably thinking about all that defense he was going to have to play here, so he took the other gig.

Again, just rumors.

Yes looking back now it's easy - I think if we knew what we were going to get out of Ballard this year, we would have made that deal.

At the time, it looked like a pretty even trade, so not worth $1M.

I don’t think it’s a rumor that Jans is the most demanding, gotta play defense coach since Richard Williams. Maybe even harder on the guys…

Jans is a tough coach, and I don't think that style of coaching is going to be that successful moving forward in the NIL era. Coaches from the Bobby Knight school aren't going to be as successful as "players coaches." If a player doesn't like how a mean coach yells at him, he'll just transfer to another school. Hard to keep guys this day and age if the coach is a big ole meanie.

We beat the teams they went to, so would they really have been worth it? Might be a one and done team again with them but at some point I agree try something different.

I think tough coaches are still going to be successful, provided they (a) act professional and treat the players like professionals and (b) consider personality/maturity in recruiting. Definitely going to be harder. There will be a decent number of players, particularly younger players but also upper classmen, that just can't take hard coaching, even if it's fair, without running to the transfer portal.

But definitely to the extent some coaches could in the past use their position of authority and leverage to semi-regularly treat players like **** and know the players will deal with it because they don't want to sit out, they are going to have to adjust or suffer. But you're still going to see plenty of hard nose coaches being successful because that's effective with the players willing to put in the work.

Ok, I take back everything after that alone.

Pay him what is needed to keep him.

He is certainly ONE of the best ever now.

Janns just needs to take the Indiana football approach to the portal.

Nwoko averaged 15 minutes a game last year. sometimes impactful minutes but still 15 minutes a game. Seems like I read he had conditioning issues. Ballard is playing 20 minutes a game. Ballard averages 6.2 pts and 6.2 rebounds per game. NWoko averaged 6.1 pts and 4.2 rebounds per game. Maybe its just that Nwoko is more memorable when you here it.
