Normally I think this would have been a rebuilding year for Creighton, after saying goodbye to a pair of 9-year veterans like Kalkbrenner and Ashworth. But McDermott has one foot out the door, so he was looking for some quick fixes. The guards he brought in have been decent, though not as good as advertised.

If the Jays were taking their lumps with a bunch of freshmen and sophomores on the court this year, I doubt anyone would be too concerned. It's partly due to injuries, but Mac has managed to put together a crappy season that also didn't do much to develop guys for next year.

McDermott started Freeman the last game and pulled him after about 2-3 minutes. Softest 6’11 player I’ve seen in quite some time, plays like a small forward. If he’s actually 240 I’m shocked he gets ragdolled out there

It’s more than 2… and take into account until about 12-13 years ago they were in a one bid conference where winning a single game in ten tourney was a big deal. Not sure why you want to discredit them.

Since UConn returned to the big east Creighton has a 10-4 record vs them for some
Reason they are Danny Hurley’s kryptonite. You are probably right about their talent level this year being on par for the MVC they would still finish near the top there. Losing their best returning player Jackson McAndrew to injury before the season was a big blow. Owen Freeman debacle is a big blow to them as well huge waste of NIL funds and a roster spot.
I wonder if McDermott retires after this year or gives is another go. Regardless of their successful history vs UCONN it was definitely surprising they got them last night. Sort of how Iowa owns Nebraska.

Hudson Greer getting hurt was also a big deal - not so much for wins and losses this year, but for his development.

If I was McDermott, I would get Greer and Blake Harper on the court as much as possible down the stretch, because they are the players with the most upside. If it costs Creighton a win or two versus playing Mac's old favs, who cares? Maybe that's the downside of having a lame duck coach.

What job is Huss going to take that would be better than the HC gig at Creighton?

Huss punched a Powerball ticket when he took Creighton's deal. He's not going to move to ManCrappedIn and take an offer from an AD who's trying to weasel out of a contract.

K-State is now a crap job. The only time the Cats are not toiling on ESPN+ is when they're getting their brains beaten in by Arizona or Houston or KU.

Coach in-waiting gets really old if you have to keep waiting.

Plus, remember that even in this thread we have been told that CU is a small time job that will never ever be big time.

I do not have confirmation...just some rumor talk that has popped up by some friends that are "close" to the situation.

I mean, he would be a fool to not at least listen to potential offers.

You should be happy that the asst coaches of the teams you like are wanted by other teams.

Losing McAndrew hurt them a bit. He’s probably their best pure shooter. And he’s big. Harper, Schwartz and Graves are all average IMO, though Harper was key to their win last night. McDermott has a winning record against Hurley because in past games he’s had teams as good as Hurley. Last night was a total shocker though.

How is that a shot? It is a sinking ship. You have a coach that is quitting/retiring (fact)...you have an asst coach that is getting looks from other schools(rumor). You have fans in this very thread claiming that CU is a small time program with no chance of ever being big time (facts).

They are fighting to stay above 500 and make any post season tourney.

What about that stuff makes it sound like a program going in the right direction???

I’m not quite sold on either. Harper needs to be more physical. Swartz still needs developing. To me, if you want to see what a really good point guard is, take a look at that kid from Marquette. He handles the ball well, and drives to the basket as good as any I’ve seen. And I bet he’s not even six feet.

I don't know who that is but I would imagine that most US born players are going to open up their recruitment every single season. The Euro guys MIGHT stick with a team longer just because of the huge transition.

Jasen Green is Creighton's 6'8" Forward, who is a junior. If Creighton coaches leave, I could see him transferring to Nebraska for his senior season. Would give the Huskers an athletic inside player. Good rebounder. Good defender. Has some offensive skills.

Those are your opinions included in there. No chance of ever being big time? Good lord for the 2nd time in 25ish years they aren’t going to win 20 games and you are shoveling dirt on the program. They still have beaten at least one top 5 team for three consecutive years and at least one top ten team for 11 consecutive seasons. The fans you speak of in this thread are Nebraska fans saying that. McDermott announced impending retirement last spring and now you try to spin it that he is “quitting” because they are struggling this year. Pretty damn rich talk on a Nebraska men’s basketball forum 😆 was the ship not sinking when Fred won 24 games his first 3 seasons here?

I read that Dougie made his 1000th three pointer of his NBA career. It surprised me because I had no idea he was still playing. Then again, it was on FB so it could have all been BS

Years ago I came home from the bars...and got inside my house and decided that grabbing another beer and pissing off my deck would be a great idea...I grabbed the beer went out to my deck whipped out my (what I call a dong but it almost is not even a penis) and started pissed over the side of the deck.

I finished and put my tiny dong back and realized my old lady neighbor was outside on her deck (no, this is not a penthouse forum letter)...I pretended like I didn't see her and I went back inside.

I was at a dirt track stock car race a while back using one of the urinals , and the snap on guy who serviced our shop came in and stood next to me at the other urinal and he said hi.. so I turned around while I was still peeing... and said hi to him and accidentally pissed all over him. My bad!! I let my wife drive home that nite.

Don't know about the number of three's he has made in his career, but his career earnings are just south of $84 million for 11 years so far. Oddly enough another Jay alum Kyle Korver had a 17 year NBA career and made just over $93 million.

Not a bad gig if you can get it.

Like, Danny Woodhead, dude just golfs all day now. Rex Burkhead had a nice career too.

The home games are getting less and less packed. Shocking!!!

By the way, back in my younger days I would get good tickets and Lexus Club Passes and take girls there on "dates"...I knew a lot of people there so I looked important (I am not) and it was pretty much 100% sure that I would get laid.

It’s amazing to me that a goober like Andy Katz is paraded around by TV networks as a college basketball expert. He just said that Jackson McAndew, who is missing this season with a knee injury, “was expected to be Creighton’s rim protector.”

He clearly has no freaking idea who McAndrew is or where he plays on the court. What an absolute tool.
