I like Jasper and the kid does have potential at the 2 guard. But man was he horrible last night! I get that he is still struggling on D but him just refusing to pass the ball and just jacking up shots that are completely out of the flow of the offense is just inexplicable at this point. He's by far the most selfish player I can ever remember wearing a UK uniform. You can see the potential but he really hurt us last night and has got to improve his decision making..a lot! I'm all for keeping him around next year, but with true PG1's on the team and he has got to WANT to improve his Bball IQ or he can go elsewhere. I really wanna see him do well. He has the tools but it's like he has no idea what the offense is suppose to be or how he fits into it on a TEAM... and simply runs down and shoots without even considering passing the ball. He did fair in a couple of games but this has been his problem all season long so far. I don't blame it all on coaching either. For all his faults, Pope does know how to run his offense and I just don't believe he hasn't tried to get JJ to play his role better. I'm not sure why but JJ doesn't even look like he tries to play team ball.

Rant off for now but just dammit!

Imo noah is fine. He isnt going to set the world on fire but he isn't going to lose the game.

Jasper on the other hand just wrecks everything. Cant guard. Cant distribute. Just guns every chance he gets. He's literally like the biddy ball kid who shoots it every time before his parents said to. It kills everything.

Now Jasper playing like that is on pope. He is just letting this kid run wild.
A minus 13 in only 6 minutes is cringeworthy awful for Noah. That's hard to pull off. but he is a liability

I mean, Jasper is pretty awful but at least he can score at times. Noah don't do jack **** except act scared to death to shoot, doesn't have the ability to get open, and passes the ball to a teammate as fast as possible..he looks like a deer in the headlights out there.
Yeah I thought he would end up being a good college player but he plays so scared, he will never thrive here sadly. We need to move on. There are actual bench players who can contribute out there. Look at Ansley Almonor. Guys like him exist out there in mid majors.

Serious question...if he doesnt sub in Jasper and Noah for at least a few minutes, who is going to come in for our guards, Oweh, DA and Chandler? Walker Horn or Zach Tow?
They should never enter the game together. Pope has got to sub guys one at a time almost now. Like a breather for a short time for whoever is tired. No more mass subs.

I think JQ handlers will realize he risks not being taken in first round if he doesn’t return and show he can play . That Pope will then shorten the rotation to seven players . And that we will go to FF . We have three excellent guards . We need to clog up the middle on defense so they can defend the three. Give us that and on a given night we can beat anybody .
It’s coming up on a year since JQ ‘s operation dropping to 18 from a lottery pick already has cost him tens of millions . If he doesn’t play the rest of year it may very well be no NBA GM will stake his future on him.

Noah should get nothing more than his own NIL money which may be substantial. Jasper needs weight training and as others have pointed out out needs to learn to play team ball .

He would be passing the towel to the rotation players or holding a clipboard
People are sometimes so dented.

Everyone sees how bad a player is and think they're trash. Sometimes they are, but Jasper isn't.

Is Jasper's defense is awful? Yes. Can it be fixed? Yes. He's an offensive player. He has the ability to be explosive, create his own shot and make 3's.

It's up to Pope to comprehend his game and use him right and/or help his mental to be the player to fit your system. So far, Pope is not doing either.

If Jasper didn't get hot in the first half @ Tenn and score, 10 points? We might have lost that game.

I wish people can have the intelligence to comprehend basketball and look at the bigger picture.

Never underestimate my ability to be ignorant. That said, I see nothing to quantify Jasper being a top 25 high school kid. Absolutely absurd in retrospect. To say I'm not a fan of his game is an understatement. Probably just me being an idiot but that's what my eyes see.

I don't think there is a chance on earth JQ doesn't enter the draft. Hope I am wrong

In reality, I am not a fan of anyone's game on this team this year. I don't want to dog a player because he isn't playing good defense with a high offensive potential.

I want to make sure the other side of the coin is indeed shown.

I have dogged BG because of his consistency of effort, lack of awareness and error prone with terrible decisions. It's on both sides of the ball. To me, Jasper gets a bit more of a pass. If he comes back next year and is the same or worse, than yes, it's fair.

To me, its the consistency over time.

Why is it necessary to sub barring foul trouble? These guys are D1 athletes and are afforded plenty of breaks in action to catch their breath.

Jasper has talent, but he desperately needs a coach that will force him to play team basketball. It looks like his sole purpose on the court it to create some highlights for himself. I couldn't coach a guy like that...I get mad just watching him. Hopefully he matures and realizes he can't play like that at this level.
Jasper is a product of OTE/AAU. He lacks maturity and fundamental basketball skills and knowledge. Has no clue how to play against the physicality of college players. Jasper struggles to make the simple plays that lead to winning basketball. Not to say he can't develop but it won't be anytime soon.

Noah doesn’t sub in at the guard spots, instead he does at the small forward spot.

And there’s no rule that you must play a 9 man rotation. LOTS of teams only play 7 or 8, especially late in the season. Why can’t we do the same? We don’t have to give Noah’s minutes to a new player, instead just play the 8 guys above him a bit more.

Noah, Garrison and Jasper were on the court at same time, and Georgia ended first half on a 16-3 run

Nobody denies the offensive game, it's ALL the other stuff that he is so weak-Horrible D, turnover prone and is slow to loose balls.

Typically that is lack of discipline and that is on Pope's part as a coach to motivate that and teach that.

He is not the only one who doesn't do that on the team. There were many instances were Oweh, Chandler, Aberdeen and others did the same exact thing.

Exactly what I see. He’s developed some really bad habits and they haven’t been addressed.

Well, we DO question his offensive game when it comes to the “passing“ part of offense. Jasper has awful court vision when it comes to finding open teammates. He’s so focused on jacking up his own shot that he often doesn’t even look for them.

In retrospect, it’s funny that Pope thought he was a combo guard. Because I’ve rarely seen a prospect who plays more like a pure shooting guard. He shows real promise as a scorer, but he has no natural feel for the point/distributor role at all.

Jasper is not a team dude from what I see

No defense, no toughness, just jacks up low percentage shots.
Moreno stayed at Great Crossing.
Johnson left Woodford County.
Both played Summer ball with exposure.
Both claim playing for KY was their dream.
Johnson leaving Woodford County puzzled me.
