Good chance we miss the tourney

Someone on here said Pope's still learning on the job, so, we gotta give him a pass. We just gotta take some lumps on the way back to the top. I'm guessing it's just going to be a few more years before Pope has all the experience and learning that he needs.

South Carolina the only win from here on out let’s be honest with ourselves.
There’s no way to know this. If we could win road games at Arkansas and Tennessee, then we are capable of winning plenty of our remaining games.

Pope’s UK teams have shown a weird knack for winning games we should lose, and losing games we should win. Hopefully we do more of the former from here on out.

Maybe we play another mid major team and get ran out of the building by another Jack Gholke 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Shooting 3’s like his life depends on it

follow this up with a bad SECT and Pope gonna be on hot coals when Kentucky doesn’t get a bid
I think that we get a bid unless we lose every remaining game, including the SEC tournament. Should we make the tournament, our seed will likely limit our ceiling. In my view, it's a sad commentary that we are even discussing the possibility of missing the tournament.
We need a major reset to make our way back to respectability. That begins, first and foremost, with a new AD and a new coach. No shade meant regarding Pope, he is a good man, a loyal Cat, but in over his head. As to Mitch, his malfeasance is beyond forgivable.

They win at Arkansas and lose at home to UGA. So, nothing will surprise me.

6 quad 1 wins and 18-13 gets us in regardless. Embarrassing for sure but we are in no danger of missing the tournament.

This is what I am thinking as well. One more win should pretty much lock us in. Now, lose out, finish 17-15 with a bad loss at SC and an 8 game losing skid - that might give the committee reason to exclude us. Anything else and I think we are good.

I don’t think we miss the tournament. Nor do I think SC is our only win.

We won’t scare anyone in the tournament but we will be in it.

We’re pretty good in kenpompom numbers. And even though they are fake numbers the talking heads rely on them.

What’s sad is we’ve spent most of the year unranked.

That’s just pathetic. And unacceptable.

he’s gonna get one more year as this one basically nullifies his first year.

But it’s gonna be like Stoops’ last year. Absolutely no energy and constant “put up or shut up” mode.

One more win and they are probably in. Small chance they don’t make the tournament. Disappointing year for sure but saying there is a good chance we miss the tournament is just false.

Just basing this off of how up and down this year has been.. but I see them winning 2-3 more games, probably even upsets either Vandy or Florida.

Play Thursday in SECT and eke out a close win, and then get blown out by a team like Bama.

Enter the NCAAT seeded somewhere from 7-9, another close first rd win and then the season ends with another double digit loss. That seems to follow the pattern of this season.

What do Billy G & pope have in common vs similar numbers over 2 yrs??? They both turned the program around & not for the best lol, pope may have won 2 tourney games but we now can’t get a top 100 recruit let alone a 5 star.

He’s our Matt Dougherty guys, would love for him to succeed here but we are 3-4 yrs at this point to be a legit contender from what I’ve seen in his 2 yrs. Too inconsistent with coaching decisions and management of the program overall to this point.

I would be shocked if we miss the tournament. I don't think we'll be around long though.
Will be around for a cup of coffee. In my view, this year's tournament will be essentially a write-off. Some, sadly, will see it as a learning experience for Pope, i.e., our coach-in-training. I hope that there are those in the basketball program who see the reality of the situation. If we are to return to the ranks of elite programs, serious changes have to take place. First and foremost, get rid of Mitch, who has been toxic to the basketball program. Form a search committee to find the best available coach to replace Pope, who should never have been put in a position to fail. Reward Pope's loyalty with a non-coaching position where his positive attitude and love of the Cats will pay dividends.

They were both hired by Mitch.

Pope seems adept at beating the cupcakes at least.
He’s turning UK into a cupcake, and there’s about 5-6 trolls on here masquerading as UK fans, who are completely cheering him on!

A few are blatantly obvious, while the others hind behind the, “Yeah, Pope absolutely sucks, BUT… he deserves a 3rd season to right the ship…”, act.

No actual lifelong member of BBN truly believes Pope’s 3rd season is going to be anything than an absolute disaster, unless they have completely lost their basketball minds. Those last few non trolls, fall into this category 😂

I'd been holding out hope that they could put something together in time for the tournament, but I can barely stomach to watch them play half the time so hard to get optimistic.

I like Pope and want him to succeed, but if he doesn't make some big changes, he's got to go. It's impossible to defend what he's doing this season. He can turn it around, but I think his assistants need a major shake up and he needs to toughen the **** up and run the program like he is in charge, not boosters, not Mitch and not JMI.

Pitino did it. Cal did it. It's what is required. Kentucky is a behemoth. That can be a force of nature that pushes you to the highest heights. Or a burden that crushes you without blinking an eye. Hope he picks right.

55 year-old coaches should not be “learning on the job”.
