We actually made 12 3s and shot 40% from 3 , 46% from the field and out rebounded them by 7 and still managed to lose by 8 after being up by 8 twice. Lack of defense and playing soft especially in the post killed us, that and the 13 TOs.
The post is our achilles heel and has been all season. Mo struggles to score. Garrison just struggles. MM is just inconsistent and wilts under pressure. I knew we were in trouble extremely early on when their big guy caused MM to turn the ball over. I kept thinking that I wish we had Cyril here now. He had his way in the paint.

The scary part is that we aren't really that good of a shooting team. We will probably come back to reality soon in terms of 3pt shooting . Really needed to win this game while we are hot from the 3 point line

He can’t coach. I know we are down with all the injuries, but we should have won this game. His horrendous substitutions and mediocre coaching didn’t allow us to win!
Again...on his "horrendous substitutions"..if you have 4 good players, 1 pretty good player, a couple of below average players and a couple of scrubs, what exactly can you do when you sub that doesn't bring us down?

Pope will still be here next year...and he is going to have a heck of a season. When he does, and the hurricane hits...I'm not sharing my umbrella lol
100% think he will be here. I’m not confident on the heck of a season part. But I’ll have to strong arm you for your umbrella.

Just had to say that for the anon offended that I joked about strong arming Mitch and making him step down. I’m also a cardinal for wanting the worst AD in the country to quit.

Pope is just unlucky. He has just happened to get uncoachable players for his whole career.

He’s been saddled with guys that are not self motivated and that don’t take personal improvements and conditioning as their responsibility.

One day he’s going to get some guys that are coachable and committed to self improvement and he can just them the way.

And when those guys aren’t run off, (Perry), they will show the doubters.

Might take 10-12 years and a few rule changes but Pope will get there.

Just wait!!
Well I know several here that will ride them 10-12 years out.

After year 15 of 12-15 losses they will be saying he needs time.

Our bench is basically non-existent. Injuries have made us a short rotation, Pope needs to play it as such.

If the AD doesn't go, we will get Drew or Pope 2.0...which sets us back even further.
I do think Pope will bring in a great portal class. I really do. And I think Chandler and Moreno will be outstanding next season, and Lowe, Kam and Jasper will all be much improved. I have high hopes

Can we pull a "Kansas State" and fire him with cause like they did Jerome Tang?
You live in fantasy land, there is no " we" when it comes to a coach decision there is only Barnhart. Honestly what do you think he will do. Not what he ought to do, but what he will do.

I hope this is right. But I just don't feel that rosey right now with Pope leading the way. Next year if this continues then it's a whole different conversation imo.

You don’t jerk players in and out! It’s simple!

No really don't think so those are just more of the same average at best castaways that other teams didn't want
If that is all you got , I guess you go with it. We have injured players, use it until the season is over, if that helps. You can also use the referees beat us as well..That one always works. Point, we should have won last night. We had the better team. We had the biggest team. WE have more skill players. Once again though, we were outcoached and out worked. Our offensive strategy was to do whatever the hell Oweh, Aberdeen and Chandler felt like doing. I didnt see an offense, I saw individuals working independently. If Johnson could score consistently, he would have taken over the offense. This team is better than Georgia and, its not close.

I really don't think it's that funny. Go back and look at all the losses and see if you agree with his substitution patterns. When we get in game rhythms he makes stupid substitutions. We were up 8-9 and looked to be in total control of the game and Pope couldn't help himself! Even the announcers questioned his substitutions, but yet you're the only one that doesn't understand it for some reason.

That is a catch 22 for him
yeah, because letting players run the program is really paying dividends in recruiting?

Listened to the postgame and Pope seemed to be critical of the players. Saying they are stubborn, left their defensive assignments, lead guards didn’t come back and get the team into the offense.
He was asked about the sub pattern (kind of) and he seems to fall back no analytics. It is apparent he doesn’t get it. Or he is the stubborn one.
His offensive schemes are not top 50

Damn I fell dead asleep when I got home late and slept through everything. Doesn’t look I missed much sadly. Did we just not show up again?
This is going to shock you, but Pope subbed a lot. When he did the game went sideways. Oh yeah, UGA "uncharacteristically" made a lot of 3s (weird how that happens every single game) and the refs screwed us (probably, but not really).

I am the biggest UK fan on this board. Seeing the team struggle makes me sick. The coach had a bad game. But can you sit there and say, if you are honest, that being able to give Lowe, Kam and JQ all the minutes that Jasper, Noah, Jelly and BG get wouldn't make the difference in several close games like tonight? I know no one wants to give him an injury pass, but to do that ignores the truth
Pope's fault for counting on JQ, if in fact he did.

A lot of teams have injuries that equate to the Lowe/Kam losses. Most of the time those coaches are sharp enough to shorten their lineups. For whatever reason, Pope doesn't. He chooses to play JJ, Noah, and BG the amount of minutes he does. That's on him.

Accurate. Mo can't score. Moreno and Jelavich can't defend. Garrison can't do either.

Not beating a meh team like UGA at home with those shooting stats is super concerning.

Has to learn not to play bad combos together. At least two of JJ, Noah, and Jelavich were on the floor together A LOT last night. That can't happen. None of the three are very good and they certainly aren't good when they're all playing together. Throw Garrison with them and that's a horrendously awful defensive group, that if we're being honest, isn't really any good offensively either. Just can't play them together.

I get that...but Oweh, DA and Chandler sat a total of 14 minutes combined. Less than 5 min each on average. There is only so much you can do to hide guys
