Still needs to stop. Players and fans everywhere on floor.
I disagree totally. As a society we are teaching our kids less and less each year. Notice I said society - not teachers, not coaches. Instead of taking the easy way out and just saying let's stop doing anything that can cause a problem maybe we teach our kids how to compete their tails off and then when the contest is over show good sportsmanship by shaking hands and telling our opponents "good game" or "good job". The losing team doesn't have to pose or scowl and the winning team doesn't have to sneer or belittle. A contest was had. There will be a winner and there will be a loser. Go to the locker room and celebrate with your teammates, or be dejected with your teammates. But be "man enough" (or "woman enough") to shake the other guys hand and admit that on this particular day your team outperformed mine.

I don’t disagree in theory. But I think Sportsnut’s comment is telling. The problem may not be the handshake line itself. The fans shouldn't be on the floor. Though I also wish every coach exemplified that same level of sportsmanship.

I have since heard MA and NS didn't shake hands due to several incidents that happned during the game. I think MA ended up with 4 technicals and the kid going to Campbell for football was ejected for hitting a NS player well aftrer the whistle. Sadly NS people say their kid is out for the season due to that play.

100% correct. I have been to at least 20 basketball games this year at least 10 different schools. Fans all over court after every game. Walking between handshake line, interacting with their own and opposing team players. One wrong word said and boom you have a brawl. This really did not happen 4 or 5 years ago.

NS plays at MA on Tuesday in the first game for both teams since their last meeting (due to ice and snow storms). Should be interesting...

Boys game?

Yes, that is the boys score.

On a side, doesn't NS normally have a good basketball team? I haven't seen them play this year, but the scores seem to be a very up and down season. For instance, they beat a good Oak Grove and East Surry team but then have lost to West Stokes twice, lost to North Wilkes and split with Alleghany. Have they had players hurt/missing games, young, etc.?

traditionally very good at basketball. Injuries to 2 rotational guys before season started hurt (both missed the season), a third rotational guy hurt in 1st MA game - still 12-5 (4-1) - NS has lost 2 conference games total the last 5 seasons. Hoping for a strong finish to this one, but it will be tough with ES and WS still to play 1 more time. NS plays 2 seniors, 3 juniors (1 now out inured), 3 sophomores in the current rotation.

With West Stokes win tonight at East Surry we got 3 way tie for top spot in the conference. Who comes out on top?

North Surry vs West Stokes for first place tomorrow night. Should be a good one West on 5 game win streak

Really impressed North Surry won their 5th staright outright conference championship. Young roster with 3 of their top 7 out with season ending injuries.
