I saw Duvall get on an elevator at the Peabody in 95. In town for a movie with James Earl Jones. A Family Thing.
Surprised how small Duvall was.
That’s probably when I saw him.
The hotel manager said he always had a dance floor installed in his suite because Robert was an avid tap dancer.

Was cleaning gas pumps at convenience store way back in 1985, was doing my best job- looking busy- lo and behold a corvette stingray convertible with a good looking blonde came rolling up right where I was standing. I didn’t notice the driver at first cause the hot blonde was smiling at me. The dude asked me if I liked what I saw, I turned to look at him, and it was non other than Kenny “The Snake” Stabler. I apologized for gawking at his woman, he

laughed and asked me where was a good place to eat. I rattled off a couple spots and gave him directions. He went in and payed came back out, asked my name, told me thanks and rolled on!!

got to sit down and have a drink with Emory Bellard and Bruce Arians. Back in the day
I think I posted this before but the first day Emory Bellard got to campus he came into the Athletic Cafeteria in MacArthur hall. The tables held about 10 people each. People generally sat in team groups Baseball with baseball, Football with football. etc. So Coach Bellard goes through the line and walks up to our table asks if he could sit with us. We look at him and tell him sure. So he sits down and in a few minutes starts asking each of us questions. Took about 3 guys before he realizes he is NOT sitting with his football players. We would have understood if he got up an moved, but he stayed there and finished lunch with us.

Was "neighbors" with Loretta Lynn as a young child. Met her but didn't really care about her at the time other than we fished and swam in the creek by her house a lot.

Worked out with Jerry Rice at Anatomies once back in the day.

Worked with a guy who was not really famous himself but was part of a "tour band" the worked with a bunch of big stars. I thought he was full of it till he showed me some pics of him on stage/hanging out with Usher, Boys to Men, and some others.

Magnum T. A., Mr. Wrestling II and Nikolai Volkoff at the Totesum on High Street in Jackson after a Mid-South Wrestling show in the Colisseum. It was fall of 1982. I was 12. They brought out 12 packs of beer. My brother and I could not understand why the good guys and bad guys hung out together AND drank BEER. Magnum T. A. signed our ball caps. It was glorious.

My father-in-law and I played golf behind Brett Favre and his family one day on the coast. My FIL was the Favre family doctor and surgeon and did the surgery on Brett after his car accident when he was at Southern.

My neighbor is the bass guitarist for Creed and Alter Bridge.

We saw Jerry Jones in the restaurant we were eating at the other night. When he was leaving my friend yells out, "Bye Jerry!" and he turned around and waved to everyone in the restaurant.

Went to high school with Cliff Finch’s daughter Ann Finch.

edited to: Several buddies and I were at this hotel in Ft.Walton sitting poolside drinking beers and playing guitars. This woman walks up and asks if she could hang out with us. We said sure! She grabbed one my beers out of my ice chest then asked one of my friends if she could play his guitar. She grabbed his guitar and started playing some songs. We realized that this woman had to be some sort of a musician. We hung out for awhile and slammed some beers. She got up to leave we asked her name and she replied Bonnie Raitt. She autographed friend’s guitar. I still didn’t believe it was her until I got home and looked at one of her albums and her picture was on it. Back then there was no internet or cell phones.

I was hitting on a cougar in 2009 in Dallas at a fancy hotel bar when her boyfriend came up and introduced himself. It was Wayne Gretzky. He must've been 5'8". I still think I could've closed the deal; it was right after he flamed out with the Coyotes. Not sure how he would've adjusted to the cuck chair.

That is cool. I really liked him when he was at Arsenal.

Wenger's facial epxression makes him seem lke a guy with a sour and serious outlook - but am glad to hear that you had a good experience with him. Wish he could have been a more consistent winner with The Arsenal, but I like Mikel Arteta and the trajectory. *Hoping I didn't jinx anything by saying that.*

Shared a hunting lease with Brett Favre and Dr. James Andrews for several years in IL.

Sat next to Tom Coughlin on flight from Atlanta to Indy. Also sat next to Kevin Nash on that same leg another time. He barely fit in first class.

Wife worked for Hendricks motorsports when Jimmie, Gordon, mark martin and Dale Jr were on the team. Mr. Hendricks is a super good guy. Most were good guys except Chad Knaus. (no love lost between he and I). Meet Richard Petty and Mario Andretti through that as well.

Ran into Sir Rod Stewart standing at a crosswalk in Chicago late one night with his family. We were only ones on the street. Gave the knowing nod and he smiled and did the same.

Had dinner with Joe Madden right after Cubs won the ship while in Tampa for the Bama/Clemson NC game.

Also I am married to the granddaughter of the late Donna Douglas (aka Elly May Clampett). Spent a ton of time with her before she passed away.
So many more. All great memories.

I forgot about HW Bush (and can't believe I did). He was in Starkville in the late 90s for an Arkansas football game, I think it was to honor Leo Seal.

Also met Kent Hull at a deer camp one year and he had some hilarious stories from his NFL days.

Jerry Rice - used to let him in the tin gym to play basketball. He talked to me a lot but I'm sure he was just working the hookup***

Billy Graham - actually got to pray with him. I was pretty young then but in awe and he had this presence that you couldn't really define. It's one of those moments that sticks with you forever.

Darren Woodsen - ran into him at an ACM pre and post party at the Star in Frisco a couple of years ago. He's a very solid dude.

Trace Gallagher- I was with a small work group headed to HI and we ran into him at LAX last year. We talked to him for over 30 minutes. He made a genuine effort to shake our hands and get our names. We also ran into him at our hotel in HI a few days later and he remembered our names.

My buddy and I talked with Rocco Mediate for about 10 minutes while he waited for the next hole at the Sanderson Farms golf tournament in Ridgeland. He commented that Mississippi in July is basically on the sun.

I worked for an events company that had Jewel (very nice but standoffish but her dad was very outgoing), Andy Grammar (extremely nice guy), Florida Georgia Line ( mostly talked to the band), Nick Faldo ( he and his son were very nice).

We have a friend that works for ESPN so at the Probowl last year we met SVP, Jason Kelce, Marcus Spears, Ryan Clark, and Laura Rutledge. Laura said she appreciates MSU because of her brother in law playing at State. All the ESPN guys are very nice.

RU 17'ing kidding, of course Richard Simmons counts.
Tangential, when I was at Hinds in the mid-90's I met Richard Simmons' brother Lenny Simmons at a Circle K/Kiwanis convention in Vicksburg. He was cool. Said "did you see when Richard was on Letterman and called his mom? I was the one that answered the phone." I had in fact seen that!

Most significant was Reverend Joseph Lowery. Sat next to him on a flight from ATL to Memphis and we talked for the entire flight. This was maybe 25+ years ago and I still remember discussing politics, religion, Martin Luther King and a bunch more.

Elliot Gould, strangest person on my list, sort of "from another planet" but very entertaining. about 5 minutes in a hotel lobby in Cleveland

Billy Graham at Southern Baptist Convention in New Orleans, sometime around 1980 or so. Very gracious maybe 2-3 minutes

Feddy "Boom Boom" Cannon (Palisades Park his big music hit) Pick him up at Jackson airport for a gig he had in town

Clint Walker: Another Jackson airport pick-up. I was with my Grandfather who was commissioner of AG. Walker was coming in for Dixie National Livestock show and Rodeo

Tom Lester, Bruce Weitz (Mick Belker on Hill Street Blues) very down to earth guy
Harry Belefonte, Denny Crum, Emory Bellard

got to stay backstage with Bob Hope and Steve McQueen.. Met Jayne mansfield and Ed Sullivan
My father would have said Bob Hope also. My father picked him up at an forward airfield in Belgium in WWII and took him to where the show was held. It must have been pretty bad because thet all had on helmets (including Mr. Hope). My dad said he laughed and told jokes the whole time he was in the Jeep. The man was truly an American treasure .

Emmitt Smith at Seville Quarter in Pensacola.
Used to drink/shoot the **** with Richard Sterban (Oak Ridge Boys) fairly regularly, he loves to talk sports.
Hung out with Gary Allan a few times.
Got drunk with Tommy Lasorda one night at the Nashville Palace.
Sat in at Tootsie's once with Gary Rossington and had a beer and a cigarette with him afterwards.
Dierks Bentley a few times, but he could never remember my name.
Elvis Costello, back stage at the Grand Ole Opry.
All of Riders in the Sky.
Bill Dundee twice: once when I was a kid and then years later at the strip club he owned.
Grew up with/was in band in junior high and high school with Brett Scallions from Fuel. Crashed on his couch during college while on a road trip.

Gretzky's definitely not 5'8" and he's been married to Janet Jones, who was one of the hottest women on the planet in her prime, for decades. They've got 5 kids.

So were you hitting on her, or was Wayne stepping out on her in a hotel bar??
