Coached many friends of mine at Our Lady of the Valley in Orange and Upsala in East Orange.
Jerry Carino recently wrote an article about Dick Vitale and noteworthy in that article were the numerous coaches who hailed from North Jersey in the late 1960's/early 1970's who, like Vitale, went on to NBA and NCAA success. Richie Adubato was one of them, who Mr. Codey pointed out started locally at Our Lady of the Valley before going to Upsala. He later followed Vitale to Detroit and took over on an interim basis when Vitale was fired. He also had a long career in the WNBA. His book, Havin' A Ball, is a good read for basketball junkies here.
