And being in the same room or airplane with them doesn’t count. And no dopelgangers. At least a 2 minute convo and a handshake.
Mine is Jerry rice with Tiny Tim a close second:)
20 years ago... Clint Eastwood at Hogs Breath in Carmel. Chatted for a few minutes at the bar while he waited on dinner about the most scenic places in Big Sur. Told him thanks for the info and left him alone when his food came. Was a nice guy.

Not me, but my mother in law went on a trip to Italy 10 or so years ago. She sends me a text saying she thinks she met a basketball player. I mean he’s a tall black guy… it has to be a basketball player right?? I joke that “that’s kind of racists. She then sends me a picture.

Was in Chicago with a group of teachers, when a plane from Los Angeles landed. Pearl Bailey got off and stopped to talk to us; she was working on a Master’s in Education. Muhammad Ali stopped to say good-bye to Bailey. She introduced us. When they walked away, we turned around and there was ex-California governor, Ronald Reagan and Nancy. He had just announced his presidential ambitions and was speaking to the American Legion. I remember telling one of the teachers as Reagan walked away, “He’ll never make president. He’s already 69. Americans won’t vote for a man so old.” Never ask me to forecast the future.

Doubt I got a full two-minutes with all of them, but two Supreme Court Justices, three U.S. Presidents, four Oscar winners and a whole bunch of recording artists from Clamma Dale to Kenny Rogers.

But the most famous person I ever had the opportunity to speak with was Walter Payton. 1981. That guy was one fine human being and easy to talk to.

Never met anyone really famous other than at sporting events. But did share an uber with Scott McNealy (sun microsystems founder, see him interviewed on tv every so often). Had a huge blizzard in Denver in 2016. Trying to get to the airport next morning, he asked me if I wanted to split an uber. Ended up being a $360 fare thanks to something like 7-8x surge price.

I got to have lunch Lecile Harris
Had a 10 min convo with Leach
Met Don Gay 8x PRCA bull riding Champ.
Tuff Hedeman.

Came so close to meeting Joe Montana. I was at a Bama coaching clinic when his son was kinda being recruited. I was watching Saban coach and a guy walked right past me. A coaching buddy came up and was like you didn’t notice who walked by you? I was like no. He told me Joe Montana. I turned around and he was walking into the facility. I could have cried.

Miranda Lambert wore my cowboy hat a whole concert once. Walked up to me grabbed my had and went on stage. Came back and put it on my head

1. Jerry Rice. Sat next to him at the bar at the Veranda and shot the **** for a while.
2. Ethan Hawke. Shot craps with him at the Strat in Vegas one night around midnight back around 2003. Just us two at our end of the table and about 4 people at the other end.
3. Roger Wicker

Mike Ditka. He got pissed when I asked him if the Bears were going to have to draft a fullback because Matt Suhey was getting old.

John Goodman in New Orleans at 6am before our parade began on Mardi Gras Day. He was sitting in the float with Pete Fountain and the governor gave him the key to the city later that morning. We drank “light” screwdrivers for about an hour chatting while people kept walking up for autographs. Orange juice tears my stomach up and I can only have a small amount of it. Of course I really like it. So, I had the bartender make a vodka and sprite and top it off with orange juice. Goodman thought that sounded tasty and ordered a couple rounds for us and one of my buddies.

Joe Wash came in and jammed a while at a bar where a buddy was the DJ. Talked to him a good bit.
Barry Switzer was working the crowd at a John Daly charity event. He sat at our table for a few minutes. Ran into Joe Theismann a few times at a grocery store in Germantown.

Went through the lunch buffet line at the old Edison Walthal with Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley. They were playing at the Coliseum that night. Didn’t want to bother them so just said hi, have a good show. So 2 minutes in line but not a 2-minute conversation.

Jerry Rice - He was working out at Anatomies in Starkville in the mid 90's. Talked with him for about 15 minutes about his nutrition and workouts. Just insane.

I was in a wedding with Pete Yorn. Nice guy but a bit quirky.

I met Lenny Dykstra and Darryl Strawberry as a kid. My dad talked with them more than I did.

Charles Barkley back when he played for the Sixers at a bar in Philly and a few times in Bham, AL
Tom Eplin who played “Jake” on daytime soaps at Doral Golf Club during a rain delay at Doral.
John Voights mother and Angelina Jolies grandmother Barbara.
Played golf with her at PGA National in Palm Beach - she was hilarious and a decent golfer.
Shared an elevator ride and conversation down 20 or so floors with Tony Bennet in NY.
Same for Joe Theisman and Mike Patrick on an elevator in NOLA one Sunday afternoon prior to a Saints Sunday Night football game.
Same game that Joe Horn scored a TD and had a teammate pull a cell phone out of the goalpost padding and he pretended to make a phone call.

Most people on this board aren't going to have a clue who this is, but I've spent multiple days with Arsene Wenger during a UEFA coaching course. By far one of the coolest experiences of my life. Also, he was unbelievably kind and generous with his time.

Other than that probably John Grisham during some book signing my mom dragged me to as kid. Ha. Looking back kind of cool, but 9 year old me was not impressed.

Met Charles Barkley on the Auburn campus the spring after his freshman year. In his Round Mound of Rebound days. He was wearing a George Jones concert T shirt.

I was junior high age and there with a friend who had ties to an Auburn assistant football coach. We were talking to the coach outside an athletic dorm when Barkley walked by. Coach introduced us and Barkley took it upon himself to round us up and give us an impromptu 2 hour tour of campus. Even went into my buddy's sisters dorm with us and scared the **** out of a bunch of white girls who had probably never been close to a black man that large.

He was as funny then as he is now and just nicer than hell.

That is cool. I really liked him when he was at Arsenal.
