Favorite announcers of all time?

I am one of the few who just never cared for Keith Jackson.
Someone mentioned Lindsey Nelson and I concur. Great, great announcer. I would also throw in Ray Scott. Though mostly associated with the NFL, he also called a lot of major bowl games.
For the Hawks, I really didn’t care for Jim Zabel. I grew up listening to Ron Gonder (THE best). Maybe Zabel was good at one time, but by the time I moved to the Des Moines area in 1985 he had become a caricature of himself, to the point he was downright embarrassing at the end. But you can’t deny his love for the Hawks!
For Iowa basketball games on tv…..definitely Bob Hogue!

You know people do that in the US, right? I don’t but many are in leagues and such.
I’m a huge Sean McDonough fan. Think he’s the best in the business. Lot better than Chris Fowler for abc games. I like Gus too but I think his color guy Joel Klatt is the best in that position. herbstreidt probably 2nd but klatt is better in my opinion.
mentioned in other but I think Jason bennetti most underrated. Been a fan of his since he called our OT win at isu. Plus very versatile. Does a great job in b-ball and does Detroit tigers games for baseball.
Among current announcers, I agree with Duke Slater about Gus Johnson and Sean McDonough. I also like Dan Shulman.
For NFL :
Gimme A.I. Pat Summerall and John Madden for the Sunday big game and for Monday nights I want me Howard Cosell, the Giff and Dandy Don. Just do it as AI could do it.

Ara was a prick to Iowa I think. I recall in 85 he predicted Michigan to beat Iowa and said pregame if they played 10 times that Michigan would win 9 of them and Fry was pissed and commented on that post game quipping welp I guess that was our one win.
Who was the old Arkansas coach way back that was always with Jackson on play by play? He was pretty good too.
I remembered a little late, but Frank Broyles was the dude with Keith Jackson.

If I had 3 wishes, one would be that Zabel and Harry Carey called one game together for all of mankind.
In 1966 vs. MSU Ara coached for a tie instead of a win, because ND was ranked 1 and Sparty 2. Ask anybody who watched it and isn't an Irish fan.

Charlie Jones and Bob Trumpy called some memorable Orange Bowls, while Dick Enberg and Merlin Olsen did some great Rose Bowls.
Disagree - he can get a little on the weird overzealous side but he has true excitement in his voice just like Joel Klatt in whom I think is awesome
Gotta agree with Denmar. Gus Johnson’s hype act has gotten old
I miss having him calling Big 10 games. He was a fixture there every weekend on Big Ten games, both football and hoops.
Yeah sometimes Gus Johnson can grate on me for sure, but he's overall pretty good.
I always was kind of a Musberger guy - I recall him on several Iowa games. I like him better for football than the basketball games he called, though, for whatever reason. Along with Herbstreit, some good Saturday night game of the week memories. Winning @psu in '09 comes to mind.
I do hope someday they license voices of the greats and you can choose your own individual AI generated announcer combo.
How about highlight film voices? There's Iowa alumni Harry Kalas, who was definitely great. Then there's the all-time greatest, John Facenda.
