1 for 11 from the field . . . 6 points total . . . she should have never left Columbia.
if this is her typical type of performance, then this is a good thing for us in this particular situation. Also, if she received a better NIL deal at LSU, then that's good for her as well.

Based upon Mulkey's comments and past comments from Staley, Fulwiley has one major shortcoming. She is not coachable.

I knew that we'd win if Fulwiley played her normal type of game. She might make a great play but will always follow it up with two bad ones.
No great plays. Played hard defense. Made 4 turnovers. Latson a better fit for us. MF likely is what she is. Hated to lose her, but now glad we did.

Fulwiley is a point guard. She should have stayed at South Carolina and learned from Dawn Staley, one of the best point guards and coaches of all time.

I like the way Coach Staley has handled the Fulwiley situation, she genuinely cares about her players and women's basketball.

The problem is she is not really a PG. Too loose with the ball to be a starting PG on a team trying win anything. Her best role is the one she is apparently not happy with, a combo guard that picks up the tempo and gets buckets. She has played under 2 of the best coaches in the business and they have put her in the exact same role. It's up to her to look in the mirror and decide if she is going to accept it.

Fulwiley has always struggled when playing disciplined teams. She is a street basketball player who has not learned to play organized basketball. She has great skills as a defensive player but does not a a consistent jump shot. She will wooo you with fancy plays but turn the ball over with a high frequency. In order to make it to the next level, she must improve her jump shot and show that she can play within the system.

When it was announced she was leaving, my reaction was two faced: 1) We will miss that energy that she brings to the team and the venue ... she can speed by anyone, played TENACIOUS D, and score from inside and outside. 2) We will not miss that TO's, the low shooting percentage, and the fact that she is not one you can count on when the TEAM needs you (never letting the game come to her). The fact she went to LSU to be their PG (and presumably start) and she is in the exact same role speaks volumes ... bottom line, for the Lady G's, it appears to be addition by substraction! Give me Tessa ALL DAY LONG!!! This young lady does not force it, is deadly from 3, has a great mid range jumper, can drive, plays hard D herself, has incredible floor IQ, is unselfish, and is a leader on the floor ... she directs her teammates and she has their respect .... Raven is the best PG in the nation this year (arguably) and Mouse is a strong backup PG who rarely turns the ball over ...

I think the worst thing ever happened for her when she went to LSU and was not immediately a starter. The narrative was supposed to be that Dawn's style and roster was holding her back. Turns out Mulkey didnt have the magic touch... Fulwiley's time is quickly running out in college and if she doesnt start next year and show out, her pro career is in trouble.

From what Ive seen so far this year and assuming she continues to struggle to develop next year, she would be lucky to get drafted at all in the WNBA and probably doesn't make a roster. She would almost certainly end up playing overseas and pretty much never be heard from again which is a real shame given what we had seen from her while she was a Gamecock.
