You give up the ball in those situations so the clock keeps running. 89% or not, Md's only chance is to foul and shorten the game. Good coaches keep the ball moving.
We ain't the Harlem Globetrotters. Maybe what you propose kills an extra couple of seconds. Eventually somebody will get fouled. On this team, you want that somebody to be Tarik Francis.

I know this is a little off topic, but an enormous 200,000 square foot Bass Pro Shops is opening in a few months at Riverton in Sayreville along the Raritan River. Marina and housing to follow. If you are driving over the Driscoll Bridge on the GSP south, you can see it going up next to the very large church.

Powers and Francis would be my offseason priorities. Zrno, Buchanan, Grant, Ogbole in that order would be my Tier 2, a keep for a competitive price.
I agree, and would also like to see more of Zrno on the floor with Powers and Francis

I understand RU played Maryland, however these 3 moved the ball very well to start the 2nd half, producing a lot of nice looks for each of them, and in turn producing a 19-10 run in the 1st 9 minutes of the 2nd half

I’ll allow it. Bass Pro Shops is awesome.

I have probably been to a half dozen Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops. Four hours can fly by and even if you don’t buy anything, it is a great day out for the family. If anyone has been to the one in Atlantic City, that is the toddler size version lol. This new one is a full grown adult size. The one in Memphis is The King size! Not positive, but I think the new one in Sayreville will have a restaurant.

And you coach??
Look what happened with JMike against MSU—ball needs to be in best FTs hands
Sorry, that's the way you play it. Again, you don't take the chance of missing foul shots over running the clock. Watch some good teams leading down the stretch. They never hold the ball and wait to get fouled. They pass and keep the clock running until they do get fouled.

Drive by there several days per week on way to work in Woodbridge. Smells bad around there. But very convenient to XXXV and Visions Gentelman's clubs.

Not true. Terrible take. Depends who has the ball. If you keep passing you may put a much weaker foul shooter at the line and you are only taking off a few more seconds at most.

Sorry but this is not accurate. You think Shaq O’Neal was getting the ball passed to him in late game situations to keep the clock ticking? The strategy is dependent on the personnel. Our lead guard shoots 90% from the line. It was a mistake not to make sure he got the ball against Mich State. The only time Tariq should give the ball up is in a double team if he’s about to lose it. He made 12 of 13 today. Enough said.

Roy Hinson is tall

In red jackets (left to right), Rutgers basketball greats John Battle, Roy Hinson and Kelvin Troy pose with university president William Tate and athletics director Keli Zinn during the Knights of Honor ceremony before the Maryland game. Vincent Carchietta

“I’m not a big fan,” Hinson said of the current climate. “It’s rare to have someone play four years at any school anymore. You don’t get any continuity. I’m not sure how much you can develop.

“Coach Tom Young and (assistant) Coach Joe Boylan, they were very instrumental in my life,” Hinson said. “I love Rutgers University, and I love being called a Scarlet Knight.”

“I wasn’t academically included when I got here; Rutgers helped me to become that,” said Troy, a Lakewood native who went on to become a player, coach and basketball administrator in Ireland. “I am so proud to have come here, because I accomplished so many things. People at that time said ‘Oh, Black fellas go to school (on basketball scholarships) and they take up someone else’s opportunity.’ I didn’t want to be that way. If it wasn’t for Rutgers, it never would have happened for me. Because of that I gave my all for Rutgers, and I’m honored for my jersey to go up to the rafters.”
Battle is a church pastor who said he draws on his playing days when helping a single-mother household in need or a troubled kid who could use some mentoring.
“Coming from an inner city to a prestigious university such as Rutgers, I thought I was going to fail, but the coaching staff had a wonderful way of saying, you’re not going to fail – it’s just another battle,” he recalled. “It set up my life for the future.”

Pike gave Tariq the ball-handling duties a lot in this game and seemed to emphasize it down the stretch. Good move by Pike. Let TF get more experience at running combo/point against teams more on R level instead of the stronger teams that could run a buzzsaw at him a la shu. No need to let Mark work on his game at R expense at this point either.

I would add that the more you try to pass under pressure, the greater your chances of a turnover.

There once was a time when if we beat Maryland it would be cause for celebration. Now it’s just 2 crappy teams.

Mark was listed as questionable on the pre game injury report

Sounds like he gave it a go and wasn’t ready. Was happy to see Kaden out there - he came out at halftime with a heating bad on his back. He was pretty good today and seems like he’s starting to play with confidence.

Nobody shoots lights out every game - especially not high volume guys. The good news is that Tariq has quietly been bumping his assist numbers over the past couple games. I’m happy to see him working to develop this.

Him drawing the shooting foul on the 3pt attempt in the first half was a thing of beauty. Just really impressed with his ability to find a way to put points on the board - and his fearlessness going to the hoop.

Good win. Savor any win at this point. Pike won halftime. Riding great energy to start 2nd half. 1 turnover in 2nd vs 8 in 1st was huge part. Solid D and big shots by Z on a night where T wasnt at his best. Closed it out when Terps got to 5. Its a game we should have won at home and did. Rutgers deserved it
Omg were you actually rooting for Rutgers to win?

And it pinned the third foul on one of their bigs early in the second half. Smart play, followed by 3 makes at the line.

How is it odd when you comment over and over again in game chats what a bad coach Pike is and NIL is not an excuse
Because imo its true. Why try to a flex a win over another bad team Maryland especially when I praised the team and Pike. Be happy they won. I am.

I am very happy they won. Richie and other mods didn't expect any conference wins, yet Pike is able to win some games with inferior talent
