Ok that makes sense. Our entire season has been scripted.
Some insiders on Rob Bromley’s Discord think this season might spin off into a cross over with Mormon Housewives and Stranger Things.

Oweh will be revealed to have telekinetic powers during SEC tournament and Chandler’s wife gets in a big fight over dirty sodas with her BFF. TIFWIW.

Love the video but come on Pope you gotta punch completely through that white board. Maybe the weakest looking punch ever lol. But other than that this is the type of thing we need. Anybody feel like Nike is trying to make up some ground with UK?

Not saying because of this video. Just in general. Do they see BBN is still the biggest no matter who the coach is? Do they see where the real money is? Maybe they are waking up.

I completely agree with this. Rumor has it some of the players noticed the lack of unrestrained violence and it gave them the impression that Pope wasn’t an impulsive psychopath. This disturbed some of the guys so much that they banded together and agreed to play with 25% less effort. One unnamed member of the roster was quoted as saying, “I don’t know, man. His white board punch wasn’t quite enough for me. I may have to find a shuttlebus to go play for Chris Beard — that guy really knows how to throw a punch.” Rumor has it the white board is still operational — unforgivable failure by Pope.

Was just a lighthearted joke idiot

Not a fan.
Everything nowadays has to be overhyped, over “produced” and directed - this is nothing different than all the reality tv junk that’s taken over all of cable and streaming services. Housewives of whatever county, dancing with whatever, cooking with whoever, house flipping of whatever - and now every game and apparently the season has to be “produced“ into a drama show 🤨🙄.

I feel like the "what are you scared of" shot is Pope trying to mimic Pitino's half time speech with St. Johns that went viral.

Lmao this will be positive for UK, IMO.

Here is an interesting, if not amazing, statistic.

Adolph Rupp coached forty-one (41) years and only had 10 losses two (2) times:
'66-'67 13 losses
'64-'65 10 losses

I mean, they played significantly less games back then compared to today.

But yeah, the arena is named after him for a reason.

Never had a losing season at the helm of the Big Blue Machine.

Also didn’t lose a single game in Lexington for 10 years.

Something that will never be broken, 10 years no home losses, and his crazy winning %. To me when you convince everything including revolutionary ability and coaching, Rupp is at the top of Mount Rushmore.

Agree, Cowtown Cat. To me, it proves that UK basketball is still a draw and ratings bonanza - even in a period that the BBN argues about the right coach, wrong coach, right players, wrong players, an AD who needs to move on, etc. All that is not lost on the national media. Which is NO surprise historically...

In 1983, CBS spent months with UK to produce an hour long special in prime time about "The Basketball Machine" by Emmy Award winner, Lem Tucker. Not IU. Not UCONN. Not UNC. Not dUKe. Not KU. This was after UNC and NC State won back to back NCAA titles. Wonder why?

In 2002, ESPN spent three one hour evenings of Prime Time to tell the story of "Bluegrass Basketball." Not IU. Not UCONN. Not UNC. Not dUKe. Not KU. Wonder why?

In 2013, Turner Sports, having just been awarded a contract to cover portions of the NCAA tournament, chose to kick its NCAA coverage off by debuting a new documentary based on the storied legacy of the University of Kentucky men’s basketball program – Bluegrass Kingdom: The Gospel of Kentucky Basketball. Not IU. Not UCONN. Not UNC. Not dUKe. Not KU. Wonder why...?

If UK helps to market this correctly, it should be a winner for a myriad of reasons.

Don't think that UK fails to move the needle even in bleak times.

GO BIG BLUE!

If Kentucky is still alive in the tournament, this thing will get about 5x the ratings that it will if they aren’t.

If you are at all inclined toward conspiracy theories… you have to like that.

The hate for Kentucky is stronger than any rating.

Higgins and company don’t make money off ratings.

A lot of truth to this. More time is spent making a production out of everything than the game itself. Even the celebration poses etc are practiced and choreographed. Even in baseball they spend more time trying to come with the next cute thing to do in the dugout to get on TV, makes me crazy. But gotta give them credit, they are all good at this kind of thing.

Oh I don’t disagree that it likely will be, it’s just crazy how these things have become “normal” and a “season of UK basketball” is worth a drama production like this. I do and always will love my Cats - I go back to the old Jefferson Pilot days and even before that watching them - and actually NOT watching them all that often - lots of just Cawood and Ralph on the radio.

It’s just ridiculous that a bunch of overplayed NIL millionaires and all their “struggles“ end up being “made for tv”. Most of us “die hard” fans meanwhile are working our butts off trying to buy groceries and pay the mortgage and deal with “real life” issues and we’re supposed to buy into all these players having a “really tough time” adjusting and going through this “incredible journey“? I myself, don’t give a rats *ss about “their journey“ , I just care about the actual games they play with the word “Kentucky” on their jerseys.
