They offered him $1m more than what we did? 😳
We will never know. I was told they spent 15 mill this yr. I think for RP's main wishes, repole says yes. And hurting a local school while getting a 1st team all BE guy is a nice 2fer. I bet KR got a rather significant raise. Dont you?

Definitely got a raise. But I don’t believe their offer was $1m more than what we offered.

Maybe $400k more - which I would still take a runaway.

I heard it was $5m more plus the keys to one of Pitino’s houses or apartments. I mean if I was a Brooklyn kid and had a chance to play for one of the best coaches of all time in a packed MSG every night for a 30 win team, it would take that plus more to get me to leave :).

All these kids are mercenaries now by and large so each fan will have to decide how they want to root for a kid who attends multiple stops. For all the deserved Budd Clark praise based on his recent play there is no guarantee he isn’t elsewhere next year.

Yes, Pitino is so focused on Seton Hall, there was definite motive for him to do that. Though odd he would do that on the one hand, yet publicly have Sha’s back in a big way last year and join Hurley in imploring all Big East schools and our commissioner to adapt to the times better than some have.

And it was far more than just an extra million.
Many articles (including Braziller) say St John's NIL budget was 4M.

So , Kadary got anywhere between 1/3 and almost 1/2 of that and the rest of the team got peanuts. Don't buy it.

yeah cool but doesnt his Alma Mater now say Saint John's not SHU?
Lots of thoughts and feelings about this. Apologies in advance.

He graduated from the Hall, I think. That means it is his alma mater. (I cringe when hearing a non graduate referred to as an alumnus.)
Always liked his demeanor and never jumped on the "general soreness" issue.

But since he left us to play elsewhere, I can't subscribe to "once a pirate always a pirate."
Oddly, I don't feel that way about Andrew Gaze.

Wish him well with the Wizards.

You really believe that SJU spent $4M?

Better add in the Repole factor.

BTW, UConn was also noting that figure. But what they didn't say was how boosters supplemented the total figure.

I believe a reporter that covers a team more than I do someone who just says stuff on a internet board. 🤷‍♂️

You clearly from your comment don't understand how NIL works.

For instance, a major admin at SHU was talking to his counterpart at UConn this preseason and was told their school was only spending $4M on NIL and when told we were spending $6M he was stunned. But then you supplement UConn's figure by booster donations and the number increases by nearly 3 fold.

The same goes for SJU with Repole.

And BTW, I am not some random poster just saying stuff on the internet. I would think anyone here would know how accurate my contacts have been over the years.

Dan isn’t the year in question, not this years NIL budget for SJU?

We all know it’s closer to $10-12m this year if not more.

when Zack reported the $4m (March or April 2024 I believe) the schools could not contribute anything. It was only collectives or outside sources that could contribute to NIL the year that Kadary left us for them.

So an article from back then could not be reporting what the school contributed. Was Zach really off by 2-3 times their actual budget that year?
